CAN YOU MAKE A LIVING??? Can someone make a living ( a modest one $100> a day ) playing SH NL50 I think I can beat this level whit out risking to much: if so what site is the best site for this kind of play. What kind of restrains should i have to lay how many hours, put a lose/ win limit, play only one kind of game, when should I quit a game. How can I take poker seriously?

re: CAN YOU MAKE A LIVING??? poker Take into account also, that money drawn out is money not in your bankroll to gamble with. The extra strain on your bankroll will make things go slower on and off the felt... you may wish to arrange things such that your withdrawals are not too frequent so that you don't find yourself busted out and unable to redeposit for no other reason than variance.

1. If you're winning at 5BB/100, that means you're making $5 for every 100 hands you play, so 2,000 hands a day would do it. If your winrate is less, obviously you'd need to play more hands a day to meet $100/day - so, a 2.5BB/100 winrate means 4,000 hands etc. Good players are beating 50nl 6max for more than 3BB/100. 2. Let's say you're 6tabling 6max - that'd mean you're putting in around 550 hands/hour. If your winrate is 2.5BB/100, you need to play for more than 8 hours a day. Note that this is an enormous amount of time to play poker online, and very difficult for most people. Of course, if your winrate is 5BB/100, it's 5 hours a day, which is more realistic. But playing online poker also means reviewing your hand histories, studying, improving, so that 5 hours is really 8 hours. 3. Many people suffer a decrease in winrate when they increase the number of tables they play. If you don't already 6table and are currently beating 50nl for 5BB/100, don't expect to keep that winrate. 4. Set stop/loss limits for yourself. If you drop 3bi's in a session (or 2, or whatever you end up deciding is correct), stop playing, take a break, etc. 5. Most people end up w fatigue if they multitable for more than an hour or 90 minutes (causing huge bankroll losses). Don't expect to run two 4 hour sessions a day. 6. Quit any table where you don't see anyone you have an edge on. Preferably you want that player immediately on your right. 7. I don't have a strong opinion on sites, but you want to find one where you get rakeback, which will be money on top of your winrate. Google rakeback. |

He makes alot of good sense. ^^ It's quite hard to make a livin in poker since u'll need to b winning alot more to withdrawl n keep that bankroll up so u can keep on playin the 50NL+ Plus it's not a great living if u grind for 5hours to only end up break even or down. I'd prefer to have a part time job (to keep that extra money flowing) then play like 3/4hours a day playing in the game which u find ur A game is at. Leave the table once u double up or if the table has new players. OR dont leave if u feel like u have a edge on ppl and have a great read on that table too. If ur an american player try find a poker room in europe. When ur playin at 10/11pm there playin at 5/6am and are tired. They'll make more mistakes. Take advantage on fridays + saturdays since there will be more drunk/tired/careless ppl on these days. Hope this helps

re: CAN YOU MAKE A LIVING??? poker I've followed some of your posts and see that you are enthusiastic about this game of poker we play but I honestly believe that if you're asking these questions here (above), you're still quite a long ways off. if you have an above average aptitude for learning to beat this game and are super motivated/dedicated/patient/etc. and have a balanced lifestyle then sure... why not. It doesn't happen overnight though. Like any profession, if you want to do well at it you'll need to put in the time to study. Asking others who are doing this or are considering taking the plunge is a great idea though.
