what exactly is the problem?
The fact that evillaugh reraised you shows that he has a strong hand (most likely AK,AA,KK), however you said that he is a moron (give why you think he is a moron) so i guess you're thinking he is trying to steal your raise. When you go all in here you have to expect that evillaugh will call 90% of the time. Especially if he did catch good cards. QQ is a decent hand but going all in on the preflop will be a gamble anyway. Just because you have a conservative image doesnt mean that people will auto-fold if you make a strong bet or re-raise. Two or more good sets of hole cards can be dealt at one time (just less likely). |

you are playing into the only player at the table who has the chips to eliminate you. clearly he is not under any pressure to play a hand and he is rerasing a early position raiser who can do serious damage to his stack (alarm bells should be ringing). Then you shove after getting reraised. when you shoved did you want to be called? Your shove is so large you are only likely getting called if you are beat. If he calls with less than AA, KK or possibly AK then you got exactly what you wanted, and it is just a bad beat.
If evillaugh is such a moron why is he the chip leader, this isn't the first level that luck could account for? Is it possible that plays a style that frustrates you and in fact is a good player? |

no, he is a terrible player, i looked him up.
still, i had a $10 FL tourny like that yesterday, the guy had a -100% roi off of 29 tourny games, and played like it too. still he had a 32k (1st) - 11k (second) advantage in a field w/ ~30 remaining. one of the biggest cl's i have seen. i was unfortunate enough to be sitting at his table and he was calling and hitting EVERYTHING EVER. over and over and over, it was miraculous. he was 10% underdog all the time to the river and was winning. everyone hits some end of variance at some point, im guessing evillaugh is a good analogy to that because evillaugh is a big-time loser (-75% roi for MTT) still naruto, when you have a huge chip advantage like that, with the exception of EL, just based on ICM theory and common sense, QQ is not the best hand to be messing around with against the only other big stack. did you HAVE to push all in there? absolutely not. do you have a sweet hand? sure. you can call and see where you are at.. play it safer... maybe fold QQ to overcards this way preventing at least AK from beating you.. while letting KK/AA cooler you --AK is 1.5x more common that AA + KKcombined (i believe, just did this in my head) so you'd reduce risk by a good deal by seeing flop. and if you hit your set, you are golden. |
