Built a table, finally finished
Man I have been busy this week! This was a good amount of work especially since I have never really built anything or done much with wood before. Fairly simple design/table but I think it came out pretty well. Cost me roughly $200 in materials.
Primary purpose is to have a place to practice dealing but I'm gonna try to host a game too I think. Get to relax and actually play some poker online now . |

Been working on it off and on for the last 5 days. Didn't keep an hour log and I had to do most of it in makeshift conditions (it was propped up on cinder blocks outside to do most of the cuts). I'd really be guessing at how many hours total, quite a few counting trips to Lowes (made too many trips here! kept forgetting stuff) and various fabric stores. I'm happy thought, the cards slide across it beautifully, and ordering a table would have been at least $300-$350 by the time you factor in shipping costs (if not more). |

Rough material list and cost for those interested:
- 2 sheets 8 ft x 4 ft x 3/4 in plywood, $50 from a local lumberyard (I got a good deal on this, it was pretty decent quality.) - 3 yards vinyl, $24 ($8 yard, local fabric shop) - 3 yards green velveteen fabric, $45 ($15 yard, local fabric shop) - 1 sheet, 54" x 72" foam, 1 inch thick, $22 (local fabric shop) - 3 yards of a .25", 54" wide foam, $29 (ordered online, includes shipping) - Folding table legs, $20 (Lowes) - 2000 Heavy Duty Staples, $6 (Lowes...yes you need about this many) - 3M Spray Adhesive, $15 (Lowes) - Extra Jigsaw blades, $5 (Lowes) Tools needed (either owned or borrowed): Jigsaw, Drill, Staple Gun (STRONGLY recommend an electric one), Sander, Sharpie, Yardstick, Pliers (used to remove bad staples) Hardest part? By far the hardest part was trying to get the vinyl on the rail. I didn't get it perfect but it's pretty close. If I had to do it again I'd seriously consider taking it to an upholstery shop to get that part done. |

Looks nice. If I played more live games I'd totally make one.
My friend has a big piece of the roofing material for cars. It has foam on one side, cloth on the other. We lay it over a table and pinch the ends down with clips. Works pretty well. |

Well done Tygran, looks good.
I was lucky one day about 14 years ago I picked up a professionally built table for $35 at a garage sale,(yard sale in US i think) It still works well. |

Very nice table !
I actually just finished mine yesterday, I'll post pictures sometime soon. The rail had to have been difficult (and it turned out very nice btw), and yes you certainly do need that many staples if not more. I have an electric stapler, I can't imagine doing anything like that without one. |

Nice!
I bought some plans off eBay for $6 awhile back, pretty much the same raceway-optional design as the videos and everywhere else. Your materials list is almost verbatim. However this guy I bought it from put it together with some real detail and walked you through a lot of the steps, and includes tons of photos, so I figured for $6 I'd bite. I'm not going to rush things, just start gathering materials and putting an hour or two a day in it, take my time and do it up right. What's everybody's opinion on a raceway? I like the look and the cupholders, but not positive I like giving up the real estate or looking at my cards that far away. |
