When your bankroll is that low *stability* should be a much higher priority that speed. |

| ok, slight problem, I went from 30 to 50 in an hour, bu tnow im stuck at 50. I wanted to try playing multi-tables to build a little quicker but the variance seems to get you nowhere. See, I was playing 3 tables, I lost all my money on 2 of them and tripld up on one of them, which broke me even. If this happens all the time than what would be the point of multi-tabling. Any suggestions because I would like to multi-talbe if I can find the right avenue. |

| I've been playing for a while now on single tables and would like to practice multi-tabling till I get good at it. Guess the answer to that it "then your gonna have to deal with breaking even until you get good at multi-tabling", lol am i right. |

| Multi-tabling can benefit you because you'll be playing more hands/hour, which can mean more profits. However, in your case, I would suggest not multi-tabling because you dont have the BR to handle the swings that will come with multi-tabling. Also, you said that you are trying to follow the 5% rule, but 3 tabling with a $50 BR isnt exactly doing that. Its 5% of your total BR, not the buy in per table. You dont have the BR to play at the limits you are playing but, as you said, those are the lowest. Buying for $2.5 at a .10/.20 only gives you 12.5BBs to play with, which isnt a lot to play with and doesnt give you a lot of mobility. You practically have to get really lucky and thats what I believed happened in your big run. ($2.5 - $15) However, runs like these arent going to happen all the time and you will experience downswings. Which is why you need to aim for a more stable bankroll and not focusing on increasing it so quickly. If you're playing solid, smart poker the profits will come; sometimes it'll be slow and other times you'll have good runs. So, my suggestion to you to not worry about multi-tabling right now. Just focus on building your BR with proper BRM. Once you have a solid, stable BR you can try multi-tabling because you will be able to handle the swings and such. Have you tried playing SnGs or MTTs to build up your BR. A good cash in an MTT could give that BR boost you're looking for. |

| re: Building from $30 - Easy? poker yea I have played many sng's and MTT's. I seem to always place in second in the sng's, lol and well the MTT's, and this is getting so sickening too, either I wind up one place from reaching the money or I am last in the money and short-stacked, so when I have a good hand an punch it, ofcourse I get callers due to my short stack, so I'm knowcked out there, I dont place much higher than that very often in MTT's. |

| Just an observation and I could be totally wrong. But to me it;s coming across that you expect to be at a BR of $200 plus overnight. It can happen, but it's rare and you have to be cautious with that mindset cause you will be put on tilt much faster and more likely to loose it all. But good luck |

| re: Building from $30 - Easy? poker I started a $30 BR on the 21st. I played $2.25's and kept taking shots at the $5/45 when I had enough, kept FT'ing and a few cashes, finally won one. Moved up to $5 SnGs, grinded up to ~$200. Hit a bad run for a few days and had that run down to ~$80. Today I was feeling more of the beats but I managed to crack another $5/45 (haven't played them since that first week) and a $5SnG at the same time so BR is ~$170 right now. I was 9-tabling the SnGs but after running bad for so long I figured it was best to take it down to 4 and really study the hands before me, to help me extract maximum from my big hands and give me better shots to win. I'm still running a little cold but I'm not going to complain, the 45 was great.... 99 held up against A10 FTW!!! I personally like SnGs but I see why a lot of people play cash instead. My plan is to grind to about $500 and then open up to some small stakes ring games with the SnGs, at about $1k I might move up to some better stakes, we'll see how it goes. |

Extremely good ROIs at the $5 levels are 30'ish, and that's the people who literally kill them. A good ROI would probably be something like 10-20%. SnGs are very high variance, but the risk of ruin is lower, and most online pro's agree are a great way to build a BR. |

| re: Building from $30 - Easy? poker I have found that if your trying to build up a nominal deposit, the easiest way is to play the low $$ sit n goes and play patient, the majority of the people there do not care about winning and will play almost any hand. If your patient and wait for playable hands you will find the donks that will go all in on junk and you can double up, also it will give you more chips to begin with and lessen the chance of an all in call with your bank roll instead of the $1 you risk to play the tourney. There is no fast way to build it up, you would be suprised how much money you can build in a month just cruising the low $$ sit n goes. |

| i say bump it up if you are nickel and diming it ur going to get those results. i would bump up ur sng to 10 dollar single table or 20 dollar and then see what real poker is about . it is not much money and u will see where you stand in the online poker community. this aint no penny arcade. play it dont let it play you |

| SnG's I'm still gathering the general information about money management. My approach right now is pretty simple. I play the 2.20 SnGs until I get to $30.. then play the 3.30 ones, etc. , moving my buy-ins up to ten percent of my bankroll. It's true that you can win regularly by being patient. Try starting your SnG right after a freeroll has filled up. Then you get the freerollers who missed out. They are frustrated and used to playing for nothing. -Pathlord |

| First off, to the OP, you should have ~$400 to play 10c/20c NL. If you are playing limit you may be at least close to ok. Quote:

1st session: bust 2nd session: bust 3rd session: triple up Multi-tabling simply makes the long run come faster. BUT if the OP is semi-new to poker, I would definitely not multi-table, because it will decrease your win-rate, and perhaps that's what philthy was getting at, because you will have a better winrate at a single table than at multiple tables. It is profitable though because you are playing more hands and this means as long as the winrate is not cut by the amount of tables you have (ie if you're 4-tabling as long as you have better than 1/4 of your winrate) then it is profitable. But playing multiple tables at one time does not change the variance, in fact in a certain time frame it DECREASES the variance. Does everyone not agree that over 50,000 hands they're less likely to be down if they're a winning player than over 1,000 hands? Over the only thing that matters though, number of hands, the variance doesn't change. Since the variance doesn't change based on number of hands, the chance of busting does not change (besides the fact that if you play significantly worse you have a higher chance of busting). |
