Breaks from poker I have replied many times to people about taking breaks when the poker gods tend to spit on you at every turn or river. I would like some feedback from some of you on this subject. I have played poker semi pro for 2 years now. I have run in to the brick wall again. I helped a new poker room get started in my town with advice and my support of 50 hours a week. For the most part there are 4 pigeons and 4 decent players at the table at all times. Lately I cant seem to kick the loses from my game. I feel I have become victim to fancy play syndrome on my part. Is this a sign that I need to move on to a bigger limit or am I just losing my edge playing small stakes? Or is this something that happens for a while for every decent player. I have depended on making a average of $100 a night for 2 years now but that is what I seem to be loosing every night now. Personally I think its fancy play syndrome that is the problem. Keep in mind im complaining about cash games. I am keeping aflot by tournaments for the past 3 months. I have taken 1st or 2nd in the past 3 out of 4 tournament in my area so I im not sure if its my game or just what is going on. Any opinions on this will be appreciated I have been playing 2-10 spread holdem. Last edited by quazar66 : 26th August 2007 at 7:30 AM.

Let's get this straight; you've been playing for 2 years and consistently won $100 per night and you've taken 1st and 2nd in the last 3-4 tournies. You've hit a bit of a downswing - and you want advice!? Hmm, let me see... PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER YOU MUPPET!!

Lets take a break together. Mine started last night. No wobblies yet. My problem is pokeredouttedness. And excessive victimization of someone else's fancy play syndrome. My fancy plays seem to have broken down about 10 days ago. But then my fancy plays tend to be of the button steal variety.

I can only wish that that was my issue because that would be cheap. I play limit so I dont even dare try to steal. My problem is that in a 2-10 limit game my huge postflop hands get cold called .Here is the situation. After the flop on a rag board if I have top pair or huge overpair I will raise anyone to isolate to heads up. The problem is even with this re raise I will get 2 or 3 cold callers with junk. k3os or 45os with a at9 is normal. Mostly calling down to the river. I just moved to a town that only plays holdem. The quality of the players is down right sick. There are some great players here but some just blow my mind. This is the same limits I played before. However I cant dial it in. I think I will take a month off of cash games. Im sure some of you can relate once the dealer hits your doom switch there is nothing you can do but wait it out.
