The action was stopped and the room cleared about thirty minutes ago when "Miami" John Cernuto collapsed at the table during a hand. Cernuto was attended to by medics and is now being transported to the hospital. Cernuto was conscious and talking when he was wheeled out of the Brasilia Room on a stretcher, and even gave a wave to the crowd, who gave him a round of applause.

The $2,500 Razz event came to an abrupt halt today when Miami John Cernuto collapsed at the table. Apparently action was on him he was raking a pot, at first people thought he was asleep, and then someone said I don’t think he’s breathing … at which point they kinda poked him, and he fell to the ground felt.

Pretty tacky to post pictures of the guy while he might be dying. Fortunately it sounds like he's going to be okay ... but obviously this might have been a small stroke or heart attack or who knows what ... as non-medical people we shouldn't jump to conclusions.

Update to the story

An excerpt (bold part of original material) :

" Media Director Nolan Dalla spoke to Cernuto by phone later in the night and was informed he was suffering from internal bleeding but a cause had not been determined. Cernuto told Dalla he was doing ok, his family was with him and more tests were being carried out to determine the cause of the bleeding. In true poker player fashion Cernuto asked Dalla if he had won the hand during which he had fainted. As is standard procedure, Tournament Director Jack Effel killed the hand. Cernuto’s stack remained in play and was blinded off until he was eliminated in 44th place."

I had heard (by a twitter from someone at the table or event) that it was a diabetic coma or insulin shock, and that was probably good news. Anyone hear that?? Must be some news by now.

Sorry, the word came from someone who probably heard it 2nd or 3rd hand, and probably got it wrong. This guy was just someone on my A list in e46 of the WSOP. http://twitter.com/gank Tried to look for updates on Miami John but nothing since yesterday. I hope he's alright.
