'BORGATA IN A.C." - Good game offer.

Good way to try and win your-self into the big games for a small risk, at the Borgata in Atlantic City. I’ll play both of the qualifiers if I have to. Plus I would still buy-into the main event satellite on Dec. 2.


If you could be in decent shape after half are knocked out, your chances improve greatly to win a seat. Final table play kicks in much earlier when considering at least 50 seats if not more are paid in the qualifiers.

Besides, this is where you get to play against your opponent’s real game, and the only one he brought to the table. Don’t have to worry about some software support changing your opponent’s real game in anyway, shape, or form. It’s just the ultimate real poker game. The local poker league I play with was giving away a seat to this but I didn't make it into the next level, boo hoo for me . Anyway, I might make the trip if I can scrounge up the funds with it being so close to Christmas!!

Some card rooms also come fitted with the additional support patch known as "old guy in the four seat", and the rampant support bug known as "irritating amateur that always needs to be reminded to pay its blinds".

Collusion and soft playing also exist in live poker, and it has angles to shoot that online-only players have never even dreamed of.

Is it a big problem? No, I don't think it is. Definitely no more so than online. But don't go thinking live poker is immune from this sort of stuff.

Yes, you're right here. I play in these tournaments with usually one or two of my buddies. If we end up at the same table soft play is already in place. In fact it goes beyond that to a small degree. But, let's be real here when comparing online to live. Like comparing the planet earth to Jupiter.

Yes, these are called tells.

Nah, I'm talking about the old guy in the four seat who keeps saying "He didn't say raise, so that's just a call! And he's seen cards, so he shouldn't be talking about the hand! Grumble!"

Yeah, IF. You realize that a $220 sat at the Borgata is like a $50 MTT online? Half decent players, half fish. Except the $220 hit hurts alot more than a $50 hit.

Your budget is your budget. No doubt if you want to play for the big purses, you need a decent bank-roll. As long as you recognize your budget and your talent, that's all that really matters. If you have to worry about your investment instead of relaxing, then you're playing over your head.
