| Grinding SnG's like the posters above me said. Personally I gravitate to the $1 SnG with 45-90 players. The most important factor to me is just getting ITM in as many as I can & I do this by playing really tight & just playing small pot poker in general. I like to see flops so depending on how many players may go all in pre-flop I may sometimes even fold KK |

| yea i agree prob sngs depending on wot ur starting roll is, but if u suck at sng's or varience kicks in, sng's can suck away ur money quick, so don's for sure to make sure u slowly grow ur roll with a decent chance to win each time, otherwise 1 table 2nl FR games. and play uber nitty. |

I'm not saying multi-seat SNGs are bad, but if you're not beating them or just barely making the money you're most likely either breaking even or even losing money. For the OP, I would suggest sticking with $1 single table SNGs for the most part. Throw in a few $1 multi-table SNGs here and there. It'll help with you MTT game. Also, if you lose, it's not a big blow to the BR and if you win it's a nice boost. |

| well with 30 bucks your not properly rolled for any cash tables following BRM..so i would suggest the 1 dolllar 9 man SnGs for now...see if you can gradually grow it up..MTT's have such a high variance that i dont think its a good idea to partake in many of these |

Everyone has to start somewhere if you cannot beat micro stakes then you cannot beat other stakes..... |

| How are single table SNGs sicker than MTTs? Theres a lot more variance with MTTs. You can go a long time before you cash in an MTT (a significant cash) unless you're lucky to make it big from early on. Lot less variance in SNGs and if you can beat the micro-stakes, profit is steady. As for Double or Nothings, I think they're a great way to slowly build up a BR. But they are boring as hell...seriously. However, you could probably multi-table 6 DoNs or more and cash-out in the most or all of them if played properly. Just don't fall asleep... |

| Thanks for the input everyone. I did the sit n go thing for a while and got it up to about $47 but it got boring real quick so I decided to take a chance. I played in the $6000 guarantee on FT for $11. There were 658 people registered and after about 6 long hours I busted out in eighth place for $157. Wasn't the brightest thing to do but it worked out and it should help with my BR problem and it gives me some room for variance. |

glad to see you finished well in your MTT, however hopefully this isn the start of a bad habit and you will be able to use proper BRM and stop taking shots |

| to be honest there is no right or wrong way to build a bankroll ..u can play sn gos cash games whatever ....doesnt matter all that matters is that you win ......personally sit n gos are a joke specially on full tilt you have to play like ten to twenty of them to a day to place in less than half of them ..its so dam frustrating playing those 1.10 45 person sn gs on full tilt cuz you get really lose people that get lucky on you when you have jacks or kings and in my experiance every time u have a monster before the bubble you will lose so fold them i cant tell you how manny times i lost one place out of the money with kings aces jacks and every time to some hand i had crushed and i always lose to either a flopped flush rived set to an under pair its rediculous i stopped playing them honestly ....personaly i think the best way to build steady money is good roll MNGMT and playing cash games play different variations of holdem limit games mixed games and stayaway fromPLO until you get really good at reading the board and bet patterns.......HOnestly with 30 bucks id grind two tables at .2/.5 or even .1/.2 with the min buy in for a few hrs a day play really tight and aggressive dont get fancy too much bet your strong hands and play small buy in MTT get your MTT skills up daily dollar. with 30 dollars you should be making your daily buy ins from the cash games profit to off set any oot finishes in any mtts and you should try to get into such weekly tourneys like the double deuce by satelites run deep in that tourney one time and youll see your br boost way more substantially than a few break even cashes from sngs... |

| They say cash games pay the bills... And grinding micro stakes for a whuile to build is a great way in my opinion to work on your fundamental poker skills like concentration, focus, patience, DISCIPLINE, all the while handling bad beats and calling stations. And lessons learned in micro stakes are cheaper. |

| What are you good at? Quote:
If your good at cash, play 2nl or else if you prefer sng id say play the 0.10 360man sngs on stars.. they pretty easy to make the money you jus make to play VERY tight early and gradually keep loosening up as the tournament reaches later stages. |

| I'd play the $2 single table SNG's. 3 out of 9 are paid, and the $0.25 rake is a much smaller percentage than the $0.20 rake on the $1 SNG's. Remember that a third of the players at this level are pretty much incompetent. That's good, but only if you're patient and can live with a few lost games due to suckouts from poor players getting lucky. Unfortunately you don't get extra credit for having your chips in with the best hand if the 20% outer comes through. The CardChat freerolls and money-added tourneys are great ways to play against better competition with little or no risk to your bankroll. I started with about $12 in a Fulltilt freeroll win (Razz, I think, although I play NLHE almost exclusively) and have worked it up to more than $1600 through mostly single table SNG's, now alternating between $5 and $10, occassional MTT's, and CC tourneys. I've also played a few Fulltilt Poker Academy Sit-N-Learn freerolls, which are easy to qualify for and have a nice potential payout. By the way, the poker play on the weekend is somewhat different than what I find during the week. My ROI is much lower on Saturday and Sunday, due mostly to my inability to adjust to the unpredictable weekend play (IMHO). |
