I don't know about 'best' poker rooms, but we found some interesting ones on a trip to Vegas last month. We spent five nights at The Venetian. I don't care to play there or at the Wynn personally on the weekends. There are too many kids from LA coming in to strut their stuff. Weekdays are much better.
We decided to go off the beaten path to the Gold Coast, Orleans, Texas, Sun Coast etc. Some poker rooms were smaller than the ones on the strip but held a more interesting mix of players. We were walking through the Nugget downtown one evening and they were filming a tournament there. Also got a chance to see a gal we were told was Jessica Hanson (a newbie to the Country Music scene?) recording a music video. The CMA awards were at MGM when we were in town. Downtown (Fremont Street) is always an interesting place, but sometimes it feels a bit more seedy. Watch out for locals waiting to gobble up out of towners! On a good note, the slots are looser off the beaten path. Hey, they have to have some way to draw people out there. The machines were nice to us, paid for our trip and had money in our wallets coming home too. |
