Best Piece of Poker Wisdom What's the best advice or poker wisdom you've ever recieved or heard? Maybe it was from a book you read whilst learning. Maybe it was just a helpful player pointing something out. There's thousands of bits of information out there nowadays, easily available to everyone, but what's the one thing that's always stuck in your head? For me it was a line often used by T.J Cloutier in his and Tom McEvoy's Championship series: "You get two new cards the very next hand" It's helped me progress beyond the 'but i've got two pair' syndrome and just throw it away. You'll always have better spots.

on a reip tp seattle my father and i played in $45 tourneys the second one a fella told me play the table and people never the cards. in the tourney it was down to the final table with me ahead in chips my father behind me gazing at my card play. blinds were enormous at this point. i took first place and made my father proad a semi pro himself. $500 win and the best expierience i ever had.

well said I know exactly what you mean. When i first started out playing poker i never threw away two pair. Even if i had pocked kings and an ace hit the flop i still wouldnt fold it, i would just say to myself hes bluffin LOL. But ive learned over the years that poker is patience and patience is everything. You wouldnt think so but it actually takes a while to learn how to fold those big hands. but when your beat your beat. Its like they say, IT TAKES A MINUTE TO LEARN AND A LIFETIME TO MASTER. Anyways your statement was well said and i agree. Goodluck to you on the tables. hope to see you on the felt soon.

This quote is from Bryce Paradis which I absolutely love (he made this playing hu): "if you don't know why you'r winning, you'r probably not". It explains the dynamics of hu so well, its always a rule of thumb for me while playing: you have to have a plan, reason for doing what you are doin- that's how you break your opponent and have an edge.

Poker is a game of situation. these poker wisdoms have relation between themselves. because there are too more variations of situation,so there are too more luck and skill to study.so you have to take lifetime to master poker. |

i would have to go with what doyle says on the POD intro. poker isn't about winning or losing. it is about making the right decision. i remember i never used to know what he meant by that just only a couple of years ago. and you could look at everything you do in this way. all you can do is do what is right, and what happens thereafter is no longer in your hands.
