Best Books Hi Everybody, Can I get some input on best Poker Books. Holdem only please, and not the super basic or the really advanced. I like it to keep drumming into me that you should not play weak cards. My favorite so far is The Illustrated Guide to Texas Holdem by Dennis Purdy. It is easy to read and he explains when certain hand should be folded. I would love to find more books like this. Thanks, Carthalion

For NLHE Tournament Poker.... Phil Gordon's 'Little Green Book' then..... Harrington On Holdem Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 (tournament play) then.... Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At A Time (< best MTT book by far!) Other books for NLHE Tournament play.... Kill Everyone - revised edition (with Elky supplement) < mtt & sng & for SNG's >> Collin Moshmanns SNG Strategy the above list is by far my most recommended (I've read many poker books & these are the ones I'd suggest)

To add to that impressive list. Profesional No Limit Holdem. Concepts in this book are something every players should know. NL Theory and Practice. Another great book. The poker mindset. Great for the psycological aspect of the game. HUNLH by Moshman for your heads up game. And finaly Turn your poker into a buissness by Dusty "leatherass" for when your ready to take poker seriously. |

I used to love the HoH series(and still do because it taught me a lot of the basics at the beginning of my poker stages), but I feel like it is starting to become a little too conservative now. Tournament poker has become much more aggressive than it was when the books first came out and for a lot of the information in the books, if you stick to it, you're going to get torn apart. Granted there is a lot of great information that still applies in them, but I just feel like a lot of it is a little dated.

I'm pretty much an Amazon girl myself, although from time to time I have found some fabulous deals at Edward R Hamilton, Bookseller (google will get you there). As far as buikding an impressive library goes, have you done a search for "books" here on CardsChat? If you do you should find some really comprehensive lists.

I think aliengenius has one of the best libraries. I have based some of my past purchases on his here: My Poker Library (updated)

I'm a loose-aggressive player and the book that helped me the most is Kill Everyone...especially the more abstract parts are like a bible to me which make complex strategic decisions and styles obvious. I read it again every few months
