| Before you critisize ! Before you start labeling games as "donkamonts" , and posting in the bad beat section, check out this hand from the WSOP main event with around 120 people left in. Cantu Wins the Battle of the Brandons Brandon Cantu is running hot. Really hot. He opened a pot from the cutoff with a raise to 55,000. Brandon Becker reraised to 200,000 from the small blind. Cantu took about five seconds when the action got back to him before shoving all in. Becker insta-called all in for less. Cantu: ![]() Becker: ![]() Caught with his hand in the cookie jar, it turned out that Cantu wasn't in the absolute worst shape. In fact, after the flop came down , he was sitting pretty. The turn gave Becker some life, but he was eliminated with the blank on the river.Cantu now has over 3.2 million in chips. |

| i hate cantu as much as anyone but: he opened from steal position in a spot where he might open as much as 75% of his hands. brandon cantu is a very active player. the guy who reraised him was obviously aware of this. BC knows the guy knows and convinced himself that he was just making a play, so he went with his read and was wrong. it's possible that the size of the raiser's 3bet betrayed the strength of his hand, but it's also possible that he'd make the same sized raise on a resteal. the players at the table would probably have a better idea of those conditions than any of us could speculate i've seen BC butcher some hands (like the one where he knocked out raptor), but at face value, this is not necessarily one of them. he simply made a bad read in a spot where it's actually pretty standard to make a play also: what the heck is this doing in this forum? |
