BB in heads up??

ok i've only been playing for 9 months and need a question answering:

up until now when ever i have played heads up the dealer always posts the small blind.
I played in a local tournement yesterday and when i got to heads up everyone there agreed that the dealer posts the BIG blind!!
the all go to the local casino so you'd think they should know, but online and on the tele it's the other way round, what do you think????

This isn't really the type of question you need a poll for. The dealer/button IS UTG and SB. It's not a matter of opinion and there's nothing to discuss. Still, it will be interresting to see who disagrees.

Well, I'm brand new at this and even I know the dealer posts the small blind in heads-up play. What kind of whackadoodles are playing at/running your local casino's poker room?

Well that probably explains why you got to heads up stage - they are morons. I hate it when you know you're right and everyone else says your wrong. Happens to me all the time on this site!

So would I do well to make a £50 bet with him that next time he's at the casino to ask one of the dealers?

mmmm, sounds like an idea to me!!

ok,

found this in Doyles book on online poker!!

i think it explains where they got it from!!

"Years ago the (dealer) button position was usually the big blind and the other player took the small blind. But this gave too little incentive for the non-button player to enter the pot so the situation was reversed: The button would take the small blind and the opponent would have more reason to play having already wagered twice as much."
