Bad playing or Bad luck? So last night I'm playing a 3+30 90 ppl turbo knockout sit n go. Each knout is 50 cents. I made my 3+30 back thorugh knockouts by the way haha. I'm in 6 out of 24 with 17,000 chips. Player to my right has 22,000. Player to my left has less than 3,000. Theres ante, blinds are 250/500. I'm big blind, dude with less than 3,000 jus calls, everyone else folds except for the guy with 22,000 who is small blind he simply calls the other 250. I have A8 suited, I raise it up to 1500 hoping dude to my left goes all in and dude to my right folds. They both simply call. Flop Q-3-A. Buddy to my left goes all in for like 1500 more. big stack to my right calls. I didnt feel good about my hand with the mid kicker but for 1500 i had to AND BESIDES DUDE TO MY RIGHT WASNT BEING AGGRESSIVE so i thought he wasn't too sure about his hand either. Turn comes and its Q-3-A-8. I now have two pair. Buddy pushes me all in, I have like 13,000 left, pot was about 10,000 i think. I called. He had pocket 3's. I feel I played it very good, just hit some bad luck. Opinions? -Rock

A on the flop! As a general rule, let's say 70% of the time...if your oponent doesn't mind seeing an A on the board and continues to bet or in this case call he/she probably has something better...and almost everytime I lead out and my oponent sticks with me bet for bet ...I end up at the wrong end of hand...losing to that small card tucked between to big cards that I often didn't even consider he/she could be playing...when this happens (calling my every bet) I usually back off the betting , may check to see what he wants to do...if he/she checks as well I haven't lost anything...if he bets it gives me time to consider whether or not my hand is really the best hand on the board....it's just one hand and one man's opinion! If he caught the 3 on the river....now that's BAD LUCK!

I don't see anything too wrong with your preflop bet. I really don't like A8, suited though I would most likely just check and see if I was getting any cards my suit. Hard to tell what the small blind has with him just smooth calling. I would have been thinking he limped with a better A. When you got your 8, I would have thought I was ahead. Those trip 3's are almost invisible. With his all in bet, when the short stack was already all in. I would have thought, 1 he is playing very stupid, 2 he has any possible hand he sees beat. Hard to tell what kind of player he is. You still would of had plenty of chips to play if you fold. It did look like he had Q8 with how he played. Good luck. What did the other player have? Just curious.

re: Bad playing or Bad luck? poker I probably would have raised the flop after the big stack just flatted the allin. If you raise and then the big stack shoves over the top, you can get away from your hand and still have a shot in the tournament.
