Bad beat or not??? :-/

I was dealt KK in middle position. Blinds were 0.5-1$. I had 50$ at the table. A guy under the gun raised to 4$, which is fairly standard raise. I re-raised to a pitiful amount of 7$ hoping to get a larger pot. Small blind called, as did original raiser. Flop showed K Q Q rainbow.

Check, check and now it’s my turn to bet on a 22$ pot with nuts. I bet 3$, slow-playing my hand. Small blind called, raiser folded. Turn showed A. Check again, I bet 6$ and the small blind raised to 12$. Not wanting to scare him off with my monster hand I re-raised to 18$, which he duly called. River - Jack. He goes all-in.

Now a little analysis of his play. By calling a re-raise he showed a pretty decent hand unless he was a fish, but I had no inclination to think that. Calling on flop he either had a very good draw hand (which is unlikely, because of such a dangerous flop and absence of flush draw possibilities) or AK, AA or any queen.

Raising on turn showed a very decent hand, still leaving open possibilities of AK, AQ, AA, QQ or QJ.

Now going all-in on river, he probably doesn’t have a straight, because of my earlier play, it’s pretty certain that I by now at least have a full-house of some kind. So that leaves him with AA, QQ, AQ, QJ or KQ.

I put him on AQ and made a call.

He had AA. Lucky turn for him.

Good analysis on your part. There's only 2 hands that beat you here so I can't imagine folding here. He'll 100% stack with AQ here or KQ (unlikely as there's only 1 other king. Actually I think he'll stack with any full house here and maybe broadway as well. I think at 100 NL there are still people stacking with broadway on that board.

On the flop you didn't have the nuts. QQ is the nuts. But I can't see you getting away from this hand. Sux. Poker. He had AA and you had KK...thats a 80% favorite for him and the best hand won. Just a crummy way it went about.

re: Bad beat or not??? :-/ poker

when the small blind called preflop I think you could only put him on AA, KK, QQ, or possibly AK. His smooth call makes the most sense for QQ since it is most likely a reraise with AA would probably result in only one call and thus heads up with the best hand. your small post flop bet may have seemed weak or confusing so a call was made to see the turn. A larger bet for value post flop may have been better since you are only behind QQ. Anyway it was a cold deck and you may have been able to save a little money after the turn by slowing down if you can give him credit for QQ or the unlikey AA.

No, it's not a bad beat. But this is a vent. There is a section for vents...http://www.cardschat.com/f46/

He had pkt aces, you had kings, the better hand won. Also, as some1 before has mentioned, you didn't have the NUTz on the flop. Misreading your hands &/or the board will get you into lots of trouble.

I don't get how this is not a bad beat. He had the 3rd best possible hand and villain had the 2nd best. That's almost the definition of a bad beat...

ok

good analysis both of you had hands that neither was gonna fold. You had a small chance to make him fold on the flop but unless hes a really seasoned player who can lay down aa your doomed to see the turn.
