bad beat jackpots
I had the good fortune to be playing on an outside table when the bad beat hit on Ultimatebet this week and got almost $400. It seems one way to make money (always my primary goal) would be to be playing on sites when the JP gets big and is divided like that. My question is: What are the sites that share the JP among all like tables instead of just the one that hits? Thanks

Absolute Poker recently changed their policy and does it this way also now.
The problem I see with the jackpot tables is that the combination of the second rake (on Ultimatebet, it's $0.50 extra per hand, if the hand qualifies for a rake) and the fact that optimal jackpot table strategy isn't necessarily the most profitable way to play makes it really difficult for me to show any long-term profit on them. If you keep track of the number of hands you win, I bet you would be shocked how much you have given back to the jackpot pool - imagine if you had that 50 cents back for each of those hands, and instead put that into a big tournament at the end of the week or month? ![]() |

Bad beats only profitable at higher stakes...
What is the chance of someone hitting the the bad beat jackpot? very small, since the casino takes its own share, it is impossible in the long run to be profitable, unless you have very bad luck
And yes, its one of those things that the casino has decided it can use to make some more money off you.... Atleast they don't have insurance in poker....yet. That would actually be a good idea... (C) flint, that. Last edited by flint : 13-04-2008 at 6:32 PM. Reason: got bored |
