BAC vs. ROI
I was just wondering how many of us here play while drinking.Does anyone else seem to have better results in certain games while buzzed? If so,how many drinks do it for ya?
I saw this posted at another forum awhile back and found the results very interesting. I will wait a day or so before I place my opinion on this subject. |

I play a lot more aggressive when drunk, this works well if my opponent misses the flops but overall i have lost a lot more than i have won whilst under the influance. I try not to do it if i have had more than about 3 pints.

i never play drunk, then again i never get drunk anyways. however i do play "high" or under the influence of marijuana. i find that it helps me stay patient, but sometimes when its getting late in a tourney and its been a while since my last smoke i begin burning out and need to spark another.

I only drink when I play live. I end up getting way too excited and figety because I don't play enough live. Right off first hand, I'm ordering one three-fingered Chivas neat. Not only does it tend to calm my nerves, it sends an interesting message to the table. One guy just kind of looked at me and said "hard core, eh?". He was drinking rum and coke. I busted him a few hands later.
By the time I'm to the first break, I'm back to decaf coffee.On-line I drink gourmet coffee when I play. Except once in awhile, there's a Stout that just cries out for attention from the back of the 'fridge. Cheers! p.s. Even though I play music, I haven't partaken of ganja in over 20 years... Its a shame, really... but pee tests have a way of doing that to you. |

I don't drink at all (18 years old), but even if I were to start drinking I'd never do it while playing. Living on a college campus I've seen enough people make stupid decisions when drunk, and the only thing those decisions affected was embarrassment. I'd hate to be making those bad decisions when money was involved. But I have played with people who were drunk and all I can say is I like money, so I liked playing with people who were drunk. |

I might have a few drinks playing live (actually, my biggest live wins have been in pub games where I've been on the beginnings of a gin bender) but not online. There's just something about drinking alone in front of a computer that seems... well... kinda pointless to me I guess

.Also a drink is roughly: 1.5oz-80 proof,5-6oz of wine(I think,I don't drink this sh*t),or a 12oz beer. I don't keep track of my drink # usually.I drink straight rum and chase it with coke. For me a half pint is level 1,one pint is level 2,three quarters of a fifth is level 3,and a fifth or more is total drunkeness. I will post how I play under the influence by the end of the day. |

I changed mine for ya daxx.
Be it known, I can not remember ever playing against Chuck, and if ever against TB, it would be very few tables. Otherwise I have found that 1 or 2 drinks doesn't seem to change things much, but shitfaced puts me in with Chuck and TB, and you all would definitely want me at your table. BTW, I cant remember the last time I got shitfaced, but then, who does? ![]() |

I prefer sober, althoug there is nothing wrong with a beer and a bluff... as demonstrated by Scotty Nguyen.

First off let me get this straight.I am a drunk/addict.
I do seem to play a little better when I have had a few.The problem is this stage only last about an hour because I don't stop after a few. There are also some games in which I play for fun while drunk and seem to do well at.These are low stakes sooooper turbos.I have a blast playing these while drinking while still making a profit off them. My game was pretty good when I used to smoke weed.I have stopped for a while now and I am suprised my game has actually improved.Having pot near by was my way to get over the bad beats/suckouts.Now I just deal with it and am doing fine. All in all I probably play best while sober.I just hate to be sober .Thanks to everyone who took part in this.My next poll will be more structured and include more choices. |
