More seriously though, DO NOT DRINK AND PLAY. EVER! Unless you are the most disciplined person on the planet and are a very light/casual drinker. Drinking plus negative emotions from a bad beat or a cooler = mega tilt. As a general how to: avoid tilt, just walk away when you feel your head burning . |

| I avoid tilt by playing multiple tables. When I only play one table I find myself getting more upset when I spend 4 hours in a tournament then get called my something dumb and get knocked out. If I am playing a few tournament at once it only bothers me for a moment. I close the table and it is a distant memory. |

| It's easy to give advice on (Tilt) when one such as Kid Poker A) Got a shit load of money B) Is use to playing with Crap cards and there-fore can suck-out more times then he may recall C) He gets most things Endorsed and that alone should make back most of his losses Now If your the average dude, a Suck out is Traumatizing if not down right just UHHHHHHHH (Words can't even express it).... I'm not hating on his advice just saying it's easier to give advice when your the one who actually plays ATC there-fore can suck-out, rather then just play TAG/LAG... Yet what do I know I'm not the pro here, lol |

| Preventing tilt Tilt in poker is as natural as cleansing your bowel before a coloscopy test: you must get it out of your system in order to continue playing. Having a bad beat bother you does no good. you will worry about it and not concentrate on your game; maybe into another bad beat, etc. Just accept it as it happens to you and move on. Concentrate on your game plan no matter what happened in the last hand. Ups and downs in poker are a common occurence: accept them when they happen and move on with your game plan....sendittoken..... |

| I'm pretty logical, so I think I can avoid tilt, but the advice on time limiting your sessions is great. 9 hours on a big tournament is about all I can take. Playing for greater time than that is just stupid, unless you're going to try to beat a world record. After the 9th hour my brain is so tired from evaluating hundreds of hands. So that is sort of like tilt, just at some point I can't process any more information, and I need to get a good meal and some exercise. It's easy to leave a cash game if you get 3 bad beats in a row. I guess if you got 3 BB in a row in a tourney, and got busted out, personally, I have to take at least a 1 hour break. Housework and chores are good things to do at this point for me. |

| re: Avoiding Tilt poker If the situation occurs in a live brick and mortor / casino room during a wiining session, go directly to the cage and cash out. There's nothing wrong with having your winning session in your pocket. Grab something to eat and call it a day. |

Online, when I start yelling stuff like "you gotta be kidding!" after a beat, I know it's time to take a break. No, I don't type it in chat, but if even the impulse to yell it at home comes up... It's not the beat that forces this as sometimes I can take a lot of beats without feeling bad. It's recognizing my emotional state has deteriorated. If I feel like yelling, I'm tilting. If I were to set a particular number of hours to play, and went on tilt somewhere in there, I'd be broke over and over. |

| Don't allow a downswing to let you tilt. It will multiply the effect of the swing. You can be playing good poker, but the natural deviation from odds will cause you to be losing. Panic is not good when playing any competitive game. Play through your losses and you will end up winning again. |
