one of pokers skills is learning the art of bluffing that is on thing that many players use daily its a hard skill becuse A.) you need to know your enemy
B.) becuse you need to figure wat number can i put out that will make him fold.

all though i have not mastered bluffing i thinck im pretty good at it i use both a.) and b.) when trying to bluff alot of peaple thinck that bluffing dosent require much but to fool the enemy but it dosent it takes more then just that you may succesfully do it once but not the other if your not carefully they can catch on and take all you got.

i was also wondering about storys of big pots won by bluffs or mabey advice.

After you show the big bluff, dont bluff again for a while. You've created an image in your opponents mind, so he or she is going to call you down next time. It makes it that much sweeter when you show them a big hand.
I bluffed a guy pretty hard last weekend in a homegame. I bet out pre-flop with 72os. He called. The flop came AQ8. I bet, he called. Turn was another A. I bet, he thinks about it for a while and calls. Other players at the table are speculating that I must have the queen. The river comes Q and I go all in. He think about it for a few minutes and folds. He shows his KK, and I flipped over my 72os. He was pretty sick, I was pretty proud of myself.

There are days i bluff and days i don't, it just depends on the mood i'm in and if it's a serious game or not. Oh heck it just depends on my mood. I am a woman you know.

It's great taking down a huge pot, followed by showing the bluff. Guaranteed huge implied odds with whatever hand you play for a while.

The most comprehensive discussion I have found on this art is "The Book of Bluffs" by Matt Lessinger. So good I wish it would go out of print...

I vert rarely SHOW a bluff, I feel in the vast majority of situations it does more harm than good.

the art of bluffing is really a lot more like a well executed magic trick.

You need characters. Who are you gonna bluff? Why is he a good pick? Who are you and what does he know about you?

The set up. You need to prep the player for your bluff. A bluff is most effective when it is almost never used. Make sure youve earned both respect and trust from your mark before trying to play with his head. Your mark needs to understand that you dont raise without a great hand. If he doesn't believe you yet you need to show him till he believes you. You really have to sell this part. This is the most important part of the magic trick. You have to make your audience trust that what you show them is authentic. When you feel you have them eating out of your hand then your set up is complete....

The story. You gotta pick your time and your characters. It works best if you dont have to fool more than 1-2 characters at a time. You need one hell of a set up to bluff a full table. Isolate your mark and figure out what he has and what he wants to do. Understand the story he's writing, otherwise youre going to have a lot of trouble writing how the story ends. If he represents top pair, you fake a flush or straight draw and plan on betting an action card pretty hard. Basically whatever he has you need to represent something better. Make sure your story makes sense!!!

Its a huge mistake people make sometimes is that their story they are representing doesnt make sense as a whole. The hand youre representing.. is it something you would have played pre flop the way you did from that particular position? Is it a hand you would have called, checked or raised on the flop? Pay attention to the whole pattern and look at yourself the way your opponent is cause you have their full attention and they havent missed a beat.

Blah bluffing is no big deal if u dont then u are a bad poker player

i do but i dont really think about it when u get a feel for players then u will know whther to bluff at pots but i would say i bluff at 30-50% of pots im in which prob way too high

when i hear people talking about oinly bluffing when oportune conitions arise i laugh because tht means u win 1 pot to my 10 pots by bluffing
