| They didn't stop you just missed it! Feb Results / MARCH GOALS thread.... March Goals 1. Get to $500 playing $10NL by March 25th (the date isn't set in stone, I'm not sure how many hands I'll be able to play) -DONE 2. Read all 3 Harrington on Hold'em books (this might take a little more than a month since I have reading for school to do, but I can start)- Well I read the first one but I haven't been playing many tournaments so I haven't started the second. 3. Follow BR Management rules. -Absolutely done. 4. FT at least on MTT- I only played 2 all month and I didn't make the FT. Too bad! I haven't come up with any goals for April yet because there is still a week left in March and I'd like to see how I can handle 25NL Last edited by SeanyJ : 26th March 2008 at 5:57 AM. |

| re: April Goals Thread 2008 poker Continue to do as well at $50 6 max as I have been doing at $25. Continue excellent BR management. Avoid tilt. Adhere to excellent table selection. Don't play when tired. Continue to study videos and learn from the pros. |

| Hey I've still got almost a week left until April, don't rush me. I'll give you my goals when I'm ready to give you my goals (plus they'll depend on whether I've made enough to bump back up to 50nl, that cold run right after cashing out destroyed me). |

| My April goals are pretty simple: -Double up my $60 BR to $120 or more ...This is very doable. I want a bigger BR, but since this will have to last me a while, I want to take things slow and steady. Ave $2 a day in profit seems reasonable. -Play 100+ single-table $1 SNGs ...This is possibly doable with my current BR, unless I just hit an awful losing streak. The reason is because I want to improve my overall SNG game. I actually want to play at least 500+ single-table $1 SNGs before moving up to the next levels, even if my BR allows me to play bigger games comfortably. In the case of PS, since SNG buy-ins (non-turbo) have such a big jump in buys ins, the next level for me would be 2-table $1 SNGs. -Final Table at least one 2K-5k+ .10/.25 MTT -This is very doable because I've done it before. I do want to focus on my MTT game as well, but not so much as with SNGs. However, these micro buy-in games are perfect for my BR. They're not that hard to beat and the payouts are great. -Win an MTT ...Ah, this has always been a goal of mine to accomplish. So, thats definitely on the list. -Try and play in more CC events ...Considering my BR, most events will probably be freerolls or small buy-in games. I actually want to be able to participate in the other buy-in events, but I just dont have the fundings for it at the moment. I also want to participate in more of the special events, but again Im very limited at the moment. I had being left out of all the fun... -Be more active on the boards ...I feel like I've been slacking on CC and not posting as much as I should. | March goals. Quote:
2) Yes. Played a decent amount of PLO and showed an ok profit. 3) Yes. I'm pretty sure I played 35K hands. (my computer went crazy and I lost my Poker Tracker database, so I'm not sure exactly) 4) Yes. I did start playing Sng's and I showed a nice profit. Then I realized how boring they are and how the rings are 10x more profitable, so I quit Sng's. 5) No. I played about 10 tourneys. I'm just too lazy. 6) Yes. 7) No. unfortunately. April goals. 1) Get BR to 600. (easy) 2) Play 50K hands (35K NLHE, 15K PLO). (sort of easy) 3) Read 2 poker books and tons of Internet articles. (easy) 4) Play a tourney a day. (easy) 5) Improve my math skills (using Internet resources). (hard) 6) Don't tilt. (hard) 7) Don't run like $hit. (hard) 8) Enjoy the month. (we will see) I'm really being hard on myself this month. GL with your goals people! |

| Well March was a disaster. I'm not even going to post my goals here because I failed every single one of them besides the one about being active in the forums and working to get better. New goals: - Work on my game. I ran at about 7 PTBB/100 for quite a bit before hitting my huge downswing. I don't believe it was all bad luck, I think I was semi-tilting. I need to get back on my game. - Run at $30+/hour at 50nl (which equates to about 3.5+ PTBB/100) - Make goldstar again (setting me up for the $650 bonus if I make platinum next month. Pretty likely considering I'll be out of school) - Get HoH cash games and read them That's all for now. If I can be successful at the first goal the rest will follow apart from the last one, which is just a matter of finally getting my check from pokerstars and using that to pay the credit card bill after ordering the books online. edit: 1 more: Focus a little more on schoolwork. I've been playing poker sometimes when I should have been studying. I don't really care that much about grades and this semester especially it just doesn't seem like I'm learning much. But I'm taking courses I need to graduate and I need to maintain a 3.5 if I want to get into the BS/MS program (basically it's going to allow me to get a masters degree in 4 years). Had a 3.76 the first semester but this semester trying to cram in baseball, poker, and schoolwork (sometimes in that order) has hurt me to the point where there are 2 classes I have legitimate chances of getting C's in. It's funny one of my poker goals being that I need to concentrate more on something other than poker, and poker will most likely take the shaft. But next month I can fully focus on poker, this month schoolwork needs to come first, although hopefully I can still log enough hands to make goldstar this month. | Well, it's only April 2nd, so I guess I can still set myself goals: 1. Play $20+2 SNGs on full tilt for a decent ROI. Move up to $30+3 SNGs before the end of the month while adhering to strict BR management rules. 2. Increase BR to over $1000 (from $750 at the end of March) 3. Release last $100 of signup bonus from FT. 4. Get bronze ironman status on FT. 5. Participate in at least two CC buy-in event per week. Win one. |

2. Fail, was down $170 total still, which as climbed to $230 over the past 2 days. 3. Fail, it got even worse as far as the mags, although I did read this and this book. April: 1. play less poker? I may only go for 'silver' this month 2. read as many books as I can 3. catch up on mags as well 4. try to have a winning $10NL month, which is looking very very bad at the moment |

| I didn't have any specific goals for March, besides clearing the $1500 bonus at Stars, which I did. For April... Meh. I dunno. I have limited amount of time available to play poker, but perhaps this will be doable: 1. 10k hands of $25NL. 2. Not suck* during the vast majority of those 10k hands, which to no small extent consists of 3. Practising application of the SPR concept and sizing bets as to not get myself into too much trouble. I'm having glorious dreams of beating $200NL consistently before the year is over. If anyone offers me a prop bet on that though, I'm going to need to be laid some heavy odds. /FP * And the sucking I'm referring to is of the "hey, let's stack off with AJo on an ace-high flop with huge stacks" variety. Yeah, let's not. |

| re: April Goals Thread 2008 poker -Get BR to 1500$ -get a FT in a MTT OR not play an MTT the whole month (either would be fine) -try to reduce downswings in a single day (playing 20$ SnGs i can sometimes go + 100$ for first hr, lose 200$ over next little while, then having to run like 150$ by winning 6/7 HU games at the end to have a pretty pathetic total profit. But at the low points of the day i seriously feel like quitting poker. I'd like to have a few more of the +>100$ days this month. About it... |

| Goals: -Gain Control on Tilt. -Do not allow myself/force myself to play if I am not in the mood to play or would much rather be doing something else. *I think these two things are the biggest obstacles in the growth of my bankroll. Hopefully if I can follow these two the rest will follow.* -Read/Study/Understand one more book on Hold'em (preferrably about cash games). -Make one visit to A.C. for 1/2 NL. -Have fun. |

| April Goals 1) BRM, BRM, BRM!! - I keep moving up, then I'll hit a few losses and try the "I'll go from a 3-6: lose, I'll go from 6-12: lose, I'll go from 12-...." Doesn't work well that way. 2) I can hit $100 while in my BR pretty well, so I guess my goal would be to concentrate on my BR and try for the $200 mark for once without tilting my BR. |

| Change in my April Goal. My only goal is to win an MTT....just one. So, Im going to playing in a lot of FRs on Full Tilt Poker and Stars, as well as a lot of CC FR events. Also, a lot of of the pokerstars .10 MTTs. A lot of opportunities for me. Im just hoping I can finally snag a win. |

| re: April Goals Thread 2008 poker I'm only setting one goal for myself, and that is to kick the crap out of 25NL. I'm not setting a goal of how much money I want to make, just that I want to be able to beat it. 10NL is easy and pretty boring and I know I can beat 25NL I just keep doing stupid things. |

| I am never setting hand requirement goals or money won goals again. Why? Beacause they mean that you focus more on getting the hands in or trying to win too much too quickly and loose focus on playing +EV long term not short term. Well thats my opinion/expierence. |

| Ahhh, the good ole poker goals thread. Well here goes (I may as well press the doomswitch myself, as everytime i set goals it goes tits up ). 1 - Play 50k hands ( probably all 50nl 6max assuming I achieve goal 3) 2 - Maintain Platinum status - follows on from goal 1 as I need 45k hands to achieve Platinum. 3 - For the love of god please run goot. I'm sick of running like s**t. The poker gods have an automatic doomswitch set on my account, coz everytime I get my balance up to $2100, I run like crap. 4 - Post more on CC. 5 - Study more and participate in sweat sessions with the study group guys. |

I sort of agree with this. One of my goals is to play 15K hands of Omaha. That would be about 500 hands a day. Yesterday I played about 300 hands and was really tired, I wasn't focused and I just wasn't in the mood to play. But I still pushed myself to play another 200 hands, which was stupid. |

| I don't consider myself a particularly serious player even though I do play at least a little more days than not. So the goals I have are pretty basic: 1. Enjoy myself. This is definitely #1. As a recreational player, that's the main reason I play, so there'd be little point to playing otherwise. March was a HUGE success in this regard since I won my way into my first big live tournament, the $4.5 million Irish Open. Didn't come close to cashing, but just being able to play made the month a great one poker-wise. 2. Make some money. I don't win enough for the amount to matter much, but having gone over three years without a losing month, I'd certainly like to extend that streak. |
