I'm posting this here in case there is anyone from Ontario that posts here.

Hi; I wanted to let everyone know about a NL Holdem Tournament being held in Cobourg Ontario, to benefit or Canadian Troops in Afghanistan.

Apparently our troops are lacking items we take for granted everyday. Therefore, one person has scheduled a tournament, with all the entry fees going to purchase items and be sent over to our troops on the front line. As this is a charity event, no cash prizes will be awarded. However, we have secured some awesome prizes for the top finishers. The organizer has put a lot of effort into this, to make it a first class event. From trying to get a Canadian Pro or celebrity to deal the final table, to having the final table "piped" in, to talking to Don Cherry to promote the event on Hockey Night In Canada, to having a "MAJOR" poker website wanting to host the event, etc etc

The buy-in for the tournament will be $30. with $25 going directly to the troops and $5 to cover the cost of a souvenir T-shirts (done in Canada's hockey team colors).

Tournament will be a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Feb. 24th at various satellite locations in Port Hope and Cobourg Ontario. The final table will be in Cobourg. All tickets must be purchased in advance and will go on sale Monday Jan. 21st. Entrants are limited to 500 (possible 800). Interest has been great so far and we have not advertised this until now. Tickets will sell fast.

I am posting a URL to a website we launched to help out with this event. I will be updating the forum there with a list of prizes etc as they become available.
