hmmmmmmmmm,

I have the problem everyday I wake up in the morning. LOL

Seriously. That is just part of poker. Sometimes you have the midus touch.

Other days well. The bottom prize starts looking like big money.

And how does he get a big stack of chips?

I am not being funny but you get these by taking a chance, I assume he went out for that exact reason

It happens to us all, you just have to hang in there

without really knowing the circumstances or the way you are playing, it could be something to do with your game that is causing that

play changes during the course of the tournament and you have to adapt to things like table conditions, stack and blind sizes

a good thing to keep track on is the stats, things like flops seen % and stuff like that

also the number of times you call, raise, bet, check

If you want, take note of these over a couple of tournaments and drop them to me and I will be happy to give some advice on what those stats are showing me with regards to how your playing.

That all said and done though, it could just be the cards ;]

I agree with Gumle......

If you aren't seriously tracking your stats you will never be able to objectively tell wether its a run of cold cards or a leak in your game.
In short are you getting your chips in with the best cards and being outdrawn or are you getting your chips in as an underdog?

As mentioned earlier the best players in the world go through slumps and even bust their BR, if you feel your game is tight don't sweat the short term downswing.

Sometimes you just cant get the cards. That's not your fault. Just shake off the losses and start new. Don't get frustrated

While KK is a very nice hand, I've found it loses quite often when you get it in the first few hands of a tournament. That's because there are lots of people who play an all or nothing style early on, which means they'll go all in with any middling hand. KK is a big favorite against one opponent, but against three or more, you're 50-50 or less to win.

I'm going through a rough spell right now where I am always catching rags for my hole cards. 9-2, 8-3, 7-2 etc.... Whenever I do happen to catch a K or Q it's with a 2 or 3. And Aces ... what the heck are those?

Anyway, I keep limping away and just finishing out of the money with those crap hands. When the good cards start coming back ... all I can say is .... LOOK OUT!!!

I feel for you. A few nights ago, I had such bad cards that I started counting. One run was nine hands in a row with no card higher than a 10.

Tough times

I'm there with ya... the other day I won 2 tourney's it was totally freaky.....didn't win enough to even tell you about them...but before that I hadn't won nothing for about a year.... it's tough ... now I've spent my money for the, all I can do are the freerolls till my allowance,.....lol It's not really my allowance it's a limit I set for myself...$100 every two weeks, and most of the time I don't need it but this week I'll have to tie into it...I usually keep the $100 for 3 weeks I'm hoping to withdraw a few $ soon...

I still have hope,

One day there has to be a payback, only because I'm learning while losing, and sometimes I win the odd hand.

best of luck to you!

The worst player in the world is going to catch just as many good cards over an extended period of time as the worst player in the world. But the good player is going to eventually beat out the bad player, because he knows what to do with his good cards. That's not my wisdom, but a paraphrase of just about every poker superstar who ever came down the pike, from Johnny Moss and Sailor Roberts to Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson.

I would ask myself, what is my strategy going into the tournament? How am I going to play certain cards from certain positions at certain stages? If you're taking the first deal of the tournament with a "let's just see what happens" approach, maybe it's time to get more specific about what you plan to do. An old guy in a houndstooth hat used to say, "It's not the will to win that matters...everybody has that. It's the will to prepare to win that matters."

I'm a broken record on this one, but the bookstore and the internet are absolutely brimming with books and articles on playing poker. If you're not already one, become a voracious reader of poker literature. Absorb everything you can get your hands on. Some of it you will discard, some of it you will keep. But it's the only sure way I know to accelerate your learning curve. Why try to figure it all out on your own when there are dozens of pros who've already been there, done that, made millions of dollars in the process, and are willing to share their experience and knowledge?

And, bottom line, hang in there! Poker is a game of peaks and valleys, more so than probably any other competitive game in the world. (Note my signature quote in closing...)
