Anyone else expanding their poker horizons?

I started playing cards when I was about 6 with my aunt and grandparents. We played 5 card draw, seven card stud, and a couple years ago I got into hold em, and fell in love with the game.I think of myself as a Hold em player but then took a liking to Razz. Recently I tried Omaha and, though I'm just getting a feel for it, I like it. I've been playing the .01/.02 tables for a buck or so just to learn and have to tell you I think i'm getting hooked. Has anyone else had the same kind of experience?

You might want to look into Omaha Hi Low, the 1.75 and 3.40 turbo 18 man SNGs in that are very soft on stars.

Yeah, most of my tournament play is now in Omaha and Omaha 8s. I think the thing that really skyrocketed my Omaha play was when I did my HU challenge a while ago, where I played 100 HU SNGs of PLO. I absolutely love Omaha compared to NLHE.

I have started playing the 8 game which has a little bit of everything.
I like the mix except for the hi/lo games, I suck at those.

We added Razz to our home game. We had been playing Hold 'em, stud and trash games. Trying to ease them into Omaha hi lo. Harder to figure out payoffs, but tends to keep everyone in the pot.

re: Anyone else expanding their poker horizons?

I took a different route...after playing holdem MTT's ...for almost 2 years...I finally decided to try something new...I picked holdem SNG's ...then holdem ring games...that was my extent of expanding my horizons! LOL....I do play some STUD-Hi games and OMAHA-Hi games only if they are freerolls or $1.00 tounaments...The hi/low split-pots seem to take way to long so I stay away from them...recently I been trying this new cash-out-option games on FTP...I love having that option!

I am loving the 8 game mixed games also. H/L used to be killer for me, but I am slowly getting used it to and it's feeling great to win instead of lose. haha. Good luck with you and hope your h/l gets better!

7 card stud if by far my favorite game. But finding a great tournament that offers it is tuff. Razz is also a game I do like to play, but I have to be in the mood.

To anyone who hates razz a good way to play tight is to only play hands in which you have 3 cards 8 or lower. It definitely works at the microstakes.

PLO8 is my bread and butter game at this point. My favorite tournament is the $4.44 4-max PLO Hi/Lo on Stars...usually always end up deep even though I'm still without a win.

I played Omaha a lot about 2 years ago because I tried it out and won and placed high in a couple of tourneys but I didn't really know the intricacies of the game and now that I realize this, I am horrible at it. I was thinking though that I wanted to start playing the horse games exclusively and move away from hold-em.

I like to play omaha hi/lo myself. I find I do really well in playing it. At the cash tables there is a good bit in the pot for pot limit. Carefull though they can hit on the river very easy.
