re: Any Omaha Hi/lo Junkie on here poker I play a fair amount of omaha 8 at micro stakes tables. I would say it is my second favorite next to hold em. You can really clean up some tables at low stakes if you are smart and can hit that big scooping hand or 3/4 of pot hand.

I have played a lot of PLO8 and some LO8. The game can be very profitable, but when you're getting a cold deck it can be the worst game ever. I think it is very profitable to know other games beside holdem as its profitability is declining all the time when the level at games like PLO8 isn't changing a lot. Maxi, there are some videos (mostly looking at PLO8 in MTTs) at propokerschool.com and the best thing is that they're free.

Who doesnt love Omaha hl! My top 3 biggest cash wins in my life has come by an omaha hl structure. So id say im a big junkie , omaha hl > Holdem for me all day long. Just that i keep em both active because the big $ tournaments are not oamha hl what can you do?

But to tell you the truth O8 is such a straight forward game it is really not too hard to get a handle on. Some basic ideas are: Avoid paying much (at all) to draw to half a pot. (except in special circumstances) Middle straights are intrinsically poisonous. Play hands that have a lock on 1/2 the pot and high-redraw as if they were the nuts. Pocket pairs (even aces) are easily overvalued. A set is a drawing hand at best 80% of the time. Sometimes it is right to risk getting 1/4ered when the price/draw is right. You need to be able to handle post flop play well in a big bet version of the game, and you need to be able to just stick to your guns odds wise in a limit game. I think of "Starting hands" as more of a texture, than strict situations. Position is more important than ever, and look for tables with dumb fish.
