Another robbery story My brothers friends went to Bay 101 in San Jose,CA. They both took $1500 with them, well they had one hell of a run, between the 2 of them they turned it into $10000, got into there car and drove home, well 2 guys followed them and when they pulled into there drive way 2 guys in ski masks jump out and robbed them of the whole $10000, really sad, it put such a bad taste in there mouth that they will never go play live poker again, cant blame them. So me and my brother are going live now too and I told him screw this, for one I'm bringing my bullet proof vest and my hand gun, I told him straight up, if we ever hit something that large, put your seat belt on, I figure with my corvette motor and racing transmission good damm luck catching me, I told him I will take it up to 120mph and hold it for about 3 min, I would be dam sure to tell if someone is following me. Not to mention they might get blasted themselves trying to jack me. Sad state of affairs when you cant go the card room and win without fear of getting robbed.

I hope you live in Texas. Good luck in your games tonight, and I do think ppl should be able to protect themselves any way possible. Everyone wants to ban guns, but the robbers will still have them. All we would be doing is disarming will be victims.

That's a bunch of garbage. But as I was reading and I heard Bay 101, I assumed it didn't happen in a nice area. But yeah, it's kind of hard not to notice when someone's following you, but I can just imagine that ride home, they were probably talking a mile a minute unable to control their excitement. They should be thankful they weren't hurt. I know if I'm in that situation, I'm handing the money over if they show a weapon. If they are just trying to strong arm me, game on.

Precautions - Last time I walked out of a casino with $10k, it was after a big tournament in the casino, and a lot of people knew my face and knew I was doing well. My good friend came down and rode back with me to his place, we were both armed to a moderate degree (knives), we had security walk us out, and ensured nobody followed us. And we drove back to his place which is well enough armed nobody was going to mess with us, and put the money in his weapon safe until it was time for me to hit the road back to my place. What I'm getting at is, there are criminals out there. You've got to cover yourself or this kind of thing can happen to you. Sorry to hear about that, it sucks, but it happens. The best you can do is take steps to protect yourself, and keep a low profile and watch for people following you. Don't let them make you an easy mark.

As to the response to drive to the police station, that was the whole point of doing 120mph, if some idiot robbers are dumb enough to try and catch me at that speed, well then guess its 120mph to the police station. A good defense is also having a good offense, you win something big like that and lets saying your being scoped out, well unless these robbers are hell bent on death which is fine by me, they are going to see me putting on a bullet proof vest and locking and loading right in the parking lot, I will stand in open view and arm my self, this makes a great deterrent to would be robbers in the parking lot. Think about it, your about to jack 2 guys who just won some money, then in plain view of everyone they pull out bullet proof vests and load and lock their guns in plain view, now are you going to try and jack them or you going to wait for the next little fishy to come along, plus my bro has a .44 mag. talk about dirty harry, I don't think I would try and jack someone I just saw arm them self with body armor and big arse gun. But then again living where I live you never know.

re: Another robbery story poker I live 5 minutes from Bay 101. There are a lot of Asian and Mexican gangs in that area-it's not too far from downtown-there's a pretty bad area there. It might have been a gang or just a bunch of guys that have been staking out the casino. I truly believe in owning a gun and would not hesitate to carry-done it before even though it's illegal. Like they say-it's better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

Like they say-it's better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. Amen to that, and if your that close to bay 101 then you know exactly what I am talking about here. I'm about 45 minutes from bay 101, so getting on 880 and dropping the hammer for a couple of minutes is not a problem. On a side note, robberies like this used to be few and far, now they seem to become common place at all card playing rooms, and the MO is always the same it seems like, they wait till you pull up in your drive way to jack you. I bet if they did not have security to escort you out to your car they would just jack you right as you come out the front door, freakin punk assss thieves.

Speaking of which, that's something I'd definitely be paying attention to if I just got robbed, but I'd be firing bullets before it came to that. If I was caught off-guard and unarmed then so be it, at least I'm cooperating with the villain until his throat is in range of my knife. A bullet going through your friends ribcage before it goes through me. How badly do you want the $10,000? Plus, I doubt he's going to collect his buddy's body... Once I've murdered his friend in self-defense his identy is shot Of course my life is in danger, but I'm not going to let criminals boss me around. Self-defense is something I believe in. And once my life is on the line and I'm at the mercy of somebody who's brandishing enough force to end my life, I'll take necessary steps to try to end theirs. Thanks Army, for the training. |

You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers. Wow Madness, that is crazy! Sorry to hear it, but glad they are ok. You living in Oakland, I'm guessing you know how to protect yourself. When I'm driving through there on the 580, there ain't no way I'm getting off the freeway!

I don't play live for cash... but isn't it possible to get the casino to wire transfer the money to an account for you? Or I'm sure you can hit a nearby bank to do so... like an affiliated bank you have an account with like national city bank.

Only way to really catch who's doing this is to wait for another robbery by the same people and find a common factor between both, such as who's working, or who's playing at both times. More robberies by the same people returning the same common factor such as a certain worker (maybe the guy cashing them out) or a person who is identified as near the victims right before each robbery... stuff like that. Watching Las Vegas teaches you stuff about casinos O.o. |
