Analysis of TheMaster888's 6-seater STT

I kind of rushed through this after work today, but I think I got everything in that I thought needed to be said. As usual, any critiques/corrections/opinions/criticism etc are welcome. Let me know if you disagree with me on anything.

I hope this helped you in some way.

I prefer playing the TAG early, LAG late style, but there's nothing seriously wrong with

this. The only problem is that your opponents' first impression of you is that you stole

from the button the first opportunity possible.

We'll be doing a lot of stealing later on with very marginal hands, and we'll want to get

as much respect as possible. Stealing early on will reduce our chances of that.

Ahhh...to slowplay or not to slowplay...
The problem with playing this slow is that any decent player at your table (and there are

usually a few at these stakes) is going to pin you as a slowplayer. ie He won't believe

you when any of your bluffs that are played aggressively, since he's already seen you

slowplay a made FH. We want to advertise a style that shows that we play our good hands

straight-forwardly, and we fold our poor ones. We reeeeally need that respect later on

for our steals.

Then again, if there ever were a good spot to slowplay, it'd be on this board.

Well-played. We don't want to get too involved with weak pairs like this.

A value bet on the river here is kind of a toss-up. He might have been

drawing/slowplaying a monster, in which case you obv don't want to bet, but he could also

be trying to hold onto a weaker pair then yours in which case a value bet might draw in a

few more chippies.

I like the similarly-sized c-bets with and without monsters (see last hand). We're

disguising when we have big hands, which is great because we want to keep our opponents

guessing. Again, we're really getting a LAG image at this point even though we've been

playing solid starting hand values. Keep that in mind for later hands.

I think we can raise a small, callable amount on the river here. This guy's shown a

tendency to call down weak hands, and might just see a showdown with even king-high. I

don't see a hand that beats you here, considering his line.

This guy is gonna get sick of this real soon. Maybe I'm just putting my foot in my

like 47 is that they're really easy to let go of if you meet resistance, so stealing with

Ugly hand - raise/fold PF, and take it from there. Pushing that flop is kind of

ridiculous. We've shown no strength, yet having shown that we'll steal multiple times in

the past, and we're trying to act like we have an ace or better here? I know I wouldn't

believe you. Especially not while holding J9

Sticky situation here. I'm not sure what range you put him on with his raise, but we

should be raising/folding IMO. I don't think calling is terrible, but it's just so

passive...we're pretty much giving him control in this hand. He could be making that

This might be worse - drawing is the last thing we want to do at this stage. We should

be in a mode of play where we're betting, raising or folding based on the situation. If

we MUST play this hand PF, then this is a pretty good flop for us - we can maybe

check-raise all in or lead to see if we can take the pot down. It's pretty unlikely he's

hit this flop, and we can push out a lot of worse hands.

Stacks are fairly deep, and we have a nice chip advantage, as well as position and good

odds. Raise or at least limp this. If villain is showing a tendency to give in to limps

and post-flop pressure, then keep that up. If he's constantly raising our limps, then

slowplay a big hand that way. If he's folding to raises PF, then keep those up. HU is

where we should really be applying the pressure.

I don't see what this will accomplish - he most likely has a very weak hand here, or is

trapping with a big hand. Raise a standard amount to invite the hands we dominate to

limp-raise us and our constant aggression. I guess he was 'trapping' with his A9 here.

Overall, tbh I think you played this all backwards, but fairly well nevertheless. Like I

said in the beginning, playing TAG early and LAG late is a much more effective style.

You played with good aggression in the early stages, but for whatever reason started to

limp and call instead of bet and raise as the game went on. Pick on the weak-tight

blinds, and avoid confrontations with the other big stacks unless you have a very good

reason to.

Well-played in the early and late stages, but in the middle you were a little too

passive. I hope this helped, man! Got it done earlier than I'd originally thought, too
