Amatuer Mistake

My sign-in at Empire Poker is automatic, so when a friend borrowed my computer and went into it she could playand I wasn't there so I couldn't stop her.
All gone. Started with 25 from Empirebacker.com, got to 250 bucks then the tart just ruined me. I'm so annoyed because I was starting to build an actually bankroll and now I'm back to playing stupid ass freerolls with idiots that I hate.

So yeah, word of warning I'm sure you've heard a thousand times, don't use the auto-login feature

Absolute PokerAbsolute Poker Referral Code CCHAT will get you a 100% upto $500 bonus at AbsolutePoker.com.

Seem that way. Tell ya what it was such a shock to come back into my flat and see her at the poker tables with about 15 bucks left!

Of course it's all a big joke to my mates who don't play poker. Ah well, sorta over it now. Kinda like tilt, seems so bad at the start but then you get it in context

Screw that man. She owes you 250 bucks. No if's, and's, or but's about it. It is the exact same thing as gaining access to your paypal account and buying a Louis Vuitton purse off of eBay for 250$, or taking 250$ off of your dresser and pissing it away at the dog track. Another analogy that may bring it into context is this; I play a lot of live poker, up until a few weeks ago exclusively, and I also gamble a lot all the time so I have a decent amount of cash at my house usually. The situation you described is no different than me leaving the key accidentally inside my lock-box after taking some money out and her stumbling upon it and removing 250 dollars to spend at the mall. The above examples are stealing, same as her losing the money in your poker account.

That money in your poker account is just that, in an account. It is there so you can use it to play, let it sit, or withdrawl it for bills or rent. What she did is take 250 dollars from you and piss it away.

If I were you, this chick would not, under any circumstances, be allowed back into my place again...ever. The only way I would ever even consider allowing her back into my home is if she repaid the 250$ and apologized to me, admitting what she did was theivery. If she couldn't come up with the 250 bucks, I would write her off completely and never speak to her again. There are two charactar traits that I absolutely cannot stand nor will I tolerate out of a friend; stealing is one, and lying is the other. Both are pointless and totally scumbag things to do. I hope you're able to get this situation resolved, and if not, I hope that you handle it appropriately. Don't forget, this person is a thief, plain and simple.

Diablo you hold a valid point. But there is a sense of naivity around this girl and I don't think she had a clue what she was doing.
I'm not concerned whether it was 20 dollars or 250 dollars, it's just the fact that I simply can't afford to play real money poker. And it appears my one chance to have a decent nudge at it is gone (I got the original from empirebacker.com deal ya see).

Anyways back to this bird. I explained to her what exactly she did and she feels guilty, I won't try and make her pay me back. The situation my circle of friends is in (All first time flatting university students) isn't the healthiest financially wise. What's gone is gone I suppose.

OH MY GOD! BOTY! Tell me you are not falling for the pouty lip, teary-eyed, "I didn't know! I'm sooo sorry!" act. Let me just tell you, I would KICK. HER. ASS! Everything diablo said I agree with 199%! The only reason I can think of why you would just gloss it over and let her get away with it is that she must have really big boobs and/or a nice ass! (Sorry, you're a guy, I know how y'all are! No malice meant in anyway, you guys just can't seem to help yourselves!) Soooooo, if you are bamboozled by her batty eyelashes and low-cut blouses and can't seem to get the nerve to tell her, "Look bee-atch, give me money back!" You should at least go with Four Dogs brainstorm and get some other form of "payment".

Hahah. Because new zealand is so far behind the rest of the world. All my mates still refuse to believe it was REAL money. I'm cursed by so many things I'm not meant to play poker, taking this as a sign

I had a nut at her at the pub the other night after a few to many though...

I'm amazed at how much you sound like my wife and daughters. I'm actually the pussycat in my family. In fact my wife has been in 2 fistfights at work in the last 5 years and won both of them. Didn't get fired either as the people she whipped had it coming. And they say women shouldn't be in combat - poppycock I say...

The worst thing about this thread, the thing that annoys me more and more every time I see it. It's Amateur, not Amatuer!

Me, I wouldn't have gone to the pub with her. Every time anybody asked me to go somewhere, to do anything, to chip in to something, I'd say "i'd love to, but i've lost the only $250 bucks i had in the world so I cant". And I'd keep this up for the full 4 years of university!

Guilt is a lot more powerful than anger!

This country's Universities. God I hate myself sometimes.

OK, maybe the female body painting finals is a good reason to go to the pub, but just imagine how guilty it would have made her feel if you'd missed it. Oh shut up Rob.

Sounds like a gal I'd like to meet. I am an Aquarius, so I am usually pretty easy going, BUT! There is a limit, and you don't want to push me there! Especially if I have a little "PMS" going on. No patience when I'm on the hormone highway! LOL As for women in combat...hell yes--if they're bad-ass enough to make it through boot-camp. Although I think that women should have the exact same standards to meet as the men (shaved head included, GI Jane style)...we're making soldiers here, training for war, not a garden party...but that's another topic, for another day.

BoTY--I can't wait to play you at the tables, ya softy! lol I have a kiwi online bud, and she doesn't seem to be as technologically inept as your mates! What are they, a bunch of hobbits? Tell Frodo I said hello! LOL

Better yet, why isn't he banned already. He's a complete ass and has posted total gibberish all morning.

To get back on topic...
BoTY, why don't you show this thread to the girl that emptied your account and to the friends of yours that don't take this seriously or refuse to believe it is real money? Once they read how serious all of the poker players here consider something like this, it may give them a bit better perspective on the situation and they may be inclined to side with you on this issue. The thief herself may even understand the magnitude of her actions (which I think she already does personally) and make some sort of attempt at repayment of the money she lost through her irresponsible actions.

A persons bankroll is to their poker playing as a hammer is to a carpenter's woodworking. She took money from you. It bears repeating that just because she didn't physically go into your pockets and take them money does not make this any less despicable.

I'm probably a softie, but I'd forgive and forget. Totally understand the thievery persepective, but also can see how someone unfamiliar with it would say, "Oh, a game! Looks fun," not realizing the implications of draining an online bankroll.

When I was in college and received all those pre-approved credit card applications, I went a bit nuts with them, not really convinced that it was actual money I was spending -- or would be for the next several years to pay off the balances.
