Am i missing something?

ive been playing poker online for a while using a hud. i got mad at someone for sucking out.

and he said ok "mr 50/8"

i asked him what that meant....i probably know what it means but not if its slang for something

he said if i dont know what that means i need to quit now...

not very uplifting but whatever

anyone got an idea if im missing something super important to this online game?

I don't know, but I think it has to do with his stats about you. Like you see 50% of flops and 8% of turns, or call 50% and raise 8%. The comment about "If you don't know" probably refers to you not having a database that gives you stats on players so you can judge their bets against their tendencies.

If you have been playing with a HUD for years, then you should definitely know what "50/8" means.

Lemme know where you play and your ID there and I'll let you know if he was right.

It means you need to move up in stakes to a level where the regulars don't berate the recreational players like you. Have you ever considered playing $1/$2 no limit at FT? If you do, please join my tables...

Seriously, what D'wilius said. You limp/call too much and raise too little preflop. At 6max, the good players are typically between 17/14 and 24/20. Playing 50/8 is just a fun way to burn money.

I guess I fall into that recreational player bin myself, all I can say is watch how some of these better players bet and try to learn from their example. There is plenty to learn if you keep your eyes and ears open.

It's possible of course that he knew perfectly well how to use the HUD and just didn't know the terminology. He could have been able to say that he had a VPIP of 50 and a PFR of 8, and just hadn't heard it said like that.

Then again... he is 50/8 so probably not.

HUD=Homey's Urban Driver. Not sure how much help it is in a cash game though.

correct me if I'm wrong ( I don't use a hud yet) but doesn't the 50 vpip also mean like...superfish...to be playing 50 percent of your hands and only preraising 8 percent says you will basically be playing all your rags, unless you're on one hell of a heater.
