Always expect the worst

When u guys push all in or are forced all in are you always expecting the worst???

I played 2 SNG`s and at different stages I went all in.

Heads up in the first one, I had AK. The other guy goes all in, I call. He turns K4. I know he is going to hit his 4. Sure enough, flop 4A4!!! He takes 1st place. He had about 25% more chips than me before the all in.

Next I get pocket KK. I reraise a raiser who reraises me. I call - I have position. flop J94. He raises, I reraise, he calls. turn3. He checks. I raise him all in. He calls and shows A10. I know he will out draw me. Sure enough, turn is a Q, river is an 8 !!!

Even in the only live tourny I have played, after 3 hours I`m delt KK. I`m sitting with 3000 chips (Blinds 600). After some deliberation, guy with 5000 chips calls. Shows 1010. I even say to him in front of everyone, "don`t worry, u will catch your 10" sure enough, 10 on river!!!

Am I maybe wishing bad cards against me???

Unfortunately I have a permanent subscription to "Murphys Law"...if anything can go wrong,it will.
I do expect the worst to happen, especially if I'm at Absolute Poker..Don't know why there, but things just have a way of going awry at that site for some reason..A couple people have told me that I am too negative in poker,so maybe part of it is just a mindset, think positive and positive things will happen..Who knows, try it and let me know....I'm too scared....

For about a year, whenever I had a dominating hand, I would always lose. I was very much in situations like you were. Then I went to Vegas and played in a WSOP event and ever since then my hands hold up alot more.

I can't explain it. Obviously nothing really changed, it's just the ups and downs of playing poker. It can be frustrating at times, but you just have to push through it and keep plugging along.

When these things happen to me, I try to console myself with the thought that it is a good thing.

After all, would you rather be on the other end of these situations, going all-in as underdog because you misjudged the situation, and having to pray for a miracle card to get you out of a hole.

Sure, it`s annoying to be sometimes unlucky at poker, but wouldn`t it be worse to be always cr*p at it ?

Exactly what you said is what happened to me like 10 times a row before I quit online poker, can't trust it and I prefer real games anyway!

I have a problem where I'll get one spot from the money and then some yahoo will start stealing blinds by going all-in and it takes forever to get a hand to make stand with (I mean a complete dry run of cards - 5/2o, 6/3o). By the time I get two cards that I can go in somewhat in the middle of the back (9/10o or Q/J) I am forced to go all-in (inflection point) and I lose. Last three games like that.

Another hand, I do all I can to get the draws out of the picture before and after flop. Have K/K and another K on river...that K also gave someone their Str8 draw. Figuring all the draws should be out (heads up at this point) I bet (limit)...he raises, I reraise and he bumps again which I call - he wins w/ the Str8 to my set of Ks. My first thought was "Why was he in the pot?" But, what can you do?

Now - with that said, I have a problem with bluffing online. Like the guys that come out firing once we are on the bubble - raise all-in pre or post flop to my nothing. I can't call...so I fold and lose the blinds again. I have definately (due to this site and reading) become more disciplined in making decisions and even when I lose, I see why and analyze why I was still in...and most of the time (not all) my decisions were sound. Othertimes, I make the right decision at the wrong possible time.

Live games are definately better. In a 18-25 person MTT about every weekend ($20 buy-in)...started w/ 5 of us about a year ago. We have a lot of fun and most take it pretty seriously. But I've seen and had just as many bad beats there as online. I make the same mistakes at home as online. I play too conservative which keeps me around, maybe take down one or two big pots...check-raises...but then I get loose at the wrong possible time (my full house beaten by 4 of a kind). So I would say that catching a runner-runner or just a bad beat happens as much IRL as online.

Just my $0.02.
