There comes a time when it happens to us all. Do remember the old 'chip and a chair' mentality though.

If I get near to or below 10x the BB in chips I seriously start to consider all in. You need to try and pick the right time though meaning not just what hand you have got but also the position you are in at the table.

If you are playing on a full table it makes it a little easier and you can more often than not get all in at least a 50/50 chance of winning if you pick a good spot.

It's all about timing and the more you play the better you will get at it!

Remember.... when you are short it's all in or fold, don't call!

Good tips GL IMO, going all in when short stacked is part of the deal in poker. If you ask me, I think your starting hands of Ax or pocket pairs is too tight. If you've read HoH, it is suggested you go all in anytime you get the first action and have a decent hand. I think a decent hand can even be a suited/unsuited connector or just a face card with medium pair and you want to target the middle of the pack chip counts. (i think, feel free to correct me if I'm off on my HoH tip)

i feel people wait to long to go AI in tourneys .. they wait for to many top hands that usually never come and by the time you push you have so little chips that a bigger stack can call with any two cards and at worst be a 3-2 underdog and perhaps knock you out .. so its better to pick your spots before you get to low on chips

Exactly. If you go card-dead, dont get gradually blinded out. Make a stand when others will still fold.

last night i was in the royal vegas 1000 dollar freeroll and got jack 7 suited. i was big blind next and by the times blinds were going to come around i would be all in. i still folded in hopes of getting a stronger hand, but ended up getting 10 2 off suit. was this a bad decision.
