A tough one! That is truly a tough pill to swallow...especially after your description of it! You put him on a bigger pair ...hit your set and he still played...maybe he played because of what you said...he probably didn't beleive you deep down...still ..hitting QQQ and losing to AAA on turn..wow! Could not have played it any other way if you're there to make money! Great story...sorry about outcome...No wonder you had to take 2 months before telling it!

wow thats unlucky mate. Gettin ur money in best to get sucked out on, i think i'd of taken 2months off aswell. Thing likes that can make a huge impact on ur mind n make ur game suffer. Mayb u sayin "look I have a monster and im crushing u" made him think "is he acting strong and is realy weak?" I would of kept my mouth shut and just let him decide. But then again some people cant fold AA. But u did say the young guy has made some big laydowns in big spots, so I think u saying something made him call...

re: All the money in on the Flop....12K Pot....2 out suckout on the turn poker Obviously your a good player, I know it isn't as big, but I got rivered out of a $500 dollar playing 1/2 with that same hand of trip Qs. Idiot called on the flop with JK drawing to the 10 for a straight. In the end, its poker, and if your good enough, you'll end out on top. Good luck

Ugh, sick beat. The worst part is that if you're looking at this as a job, that's just the way things go sometimes, and you have to accept it (way easier said than done!). It's so damn tilting though! Hope you get over the beat and come back stronger. At least you know you made the right play, and like you said, making reads is the way to win, so long term you'll make it up.

If you "REALLY" dont want to be called when you know your villian is on a 2 outer draw then you are playing too high. Move down to your comfortable games and this will just be another bad beat you shrug off and carry on playing. Sure its a tough beat. But we all have them.

Thanks for the positive and constructive feedback everyone. I posted this same thing over at 2+2 and it's mostly getting ripped apart by (what I assume is) a bunch of young, immature internet warriors. Yeah, I'm difinitely playing over my Bankroll, but the thing is that I dont HAVE a bankroll LOL. Everything I've ever made goes back into my checking account that pays the bills. Overall, I am waaaaaaay ahead, but I don't keep money aside. Here's the followup trip 2 months later- FWIW I went back to the 5/10 game for the first time a few nights ago to try my luck again. The kid who took down the 12K pot was seated directly to my left. The first flop I saw was Q 10 5 Rainbow (Same exact flop as the 12K abortion) Those were 2 signs right there..............what they were indicative of? I have no idea. Me and the kid got into 2 big pots on the night of $1,000 each and we traded money. ALTHOUGH he laid down AK on an A 10 3 flop (I flopped bottom set); he bet $80 pre flop (I called) and then he bet $200 on the flop (I raised to $600) he showed me his hand. We both started with $2500 in that hand....The kid calls overpair in an obscene spot but then lays down top pair in a spot where the only thing that beats him is a set?!?!?! Head scratcher.... Overall, I played 4 1/2 hours. Bought in for $1,800 and cashed out for $6,000. I got absolutely smashed in the face with the deck and was flopping sets, boats and even quads the whole session! The night ended with some idiot calling off $2100 on the river to me when I pushed in after hitting a dirty straight on the turn (He had 2nd pair) 'Twas a valiant return!

re: All the money in on the Flop....12K Pot....2 out suckout on the turn poker I'm glad your back and on the mend, you deserve a good run after that. Just reading it was exciting and sickening, very wel told. To the person who said you're playing above your roll, maybe you are, but theres a difference between an all-in between two people for your buy-in ($1000) and a massive $12k pot. Keep going, your obviously a winner and a good player. I wish you better luck.
