advice and analysis on my play

I love poker and have been playing for a few years now. I just discovered this site and love it because i dont have a tight poker circle for advice and to bounce my ideas off of, plus my girlfreind isnt in favor of my dream of being a professional. I want to clerify when i say professional, i do not mean glamour and tv or WSOP, i mean someone who makes a profit haha. Either way its a dream and thats part 1 of my question. I have felt for the past year that I am talented and capable of being successfull in poker, but i do not have a positive ROI by any means. A year ago this time, i ran deep for a weekend. even recently ive been running deep in large tournies and 180 SNG ($11,$33). Its because of the success ive had that makes me believe i could make it with a proper BR. have any of you felt like that and struggled? ive really only been serious about poker for the past year. If i was gonna be a pro, would it have happened already?

Part 2: I want to use this site to improve. I try to analyze my hand statistics often during play and after but i dont fully know what im supposed to be looking for? can someone explain how they analyze their hand history? Maybe listing some of my stats will help?

last 7 tournaments

total hands played: 21% - 18% - 28% - 15% - (28%) - 21%-18%
pots won at showdown: 63% - 46% - 55% - 62% - (30%) - 63%-46%

Welcome to the site. Just had a quick look at your OPR.

Get either pokertracker or holdem manager if you dont already have it, both offer a free 30 day trial.

You need to start to realise how long the long run actually is when you hear pokerplayers refer to the term. 67 tourneys is literally nothing, and you could be on the postive side of variance, literally for luck to even out you need to be playing thousands of games.

Try to post any tricky hands here and we can give you some input.

re: advice and analysis on my play poker

Well, first things first, you love poker and that is always a good thing for pateince etc. If you want become a professional you would have to understand that you would need to put a lot of hours into the game (as you probably know)

Also the advice that tenbob gave is great. Pokertracker is not very expensive and it offers a 30 or a 60day trial i think. This will certainly help your game as you will be able to see your opponents and save hand histories.

Just keep tracking all your stats and cashes and it'll help your game a lot.

If "i do not have a positive ROI" means you're losing money, you may want to consider dropping down in stakes. Even if playing $11 to $33 tournaments is easily affordable for you, there are still good reasons to do so. One is simply that you can play more - possibly a lot more - for the same money. The more you play, the faster you can improve, especially if you're actually thinking of how to improve and trying things out.

Another reason is that presumably, the opposition won't be of the same overall caliber, which increases the chances you'll get into the habit of winning money, which is certainly good attitude-wise as long as your head doesn't swell too much.
