Wow. I just love it when someone takes their own personal problems and assumes that since they suffer with this problem, everyone else must as well. Sort of like Santorum and the UIEGA. Addictionology is an actual area of study. One of the funny things about addictive behavior is that those exhibiting addictive behavior will likely show a proclivity to addiction in many areas of life and living. They will show a propensity to Alcoholism, Drug Addiction (legal or otherwise), Food Addiction, Sex Addiction, etc. blah blah blah. Most adults do not exhibit addiction behavior. They can have a drink or three and not be driven to a state of falling down drunk every time they do drink. They can have a faithful relationship with one partner at a time. They can separate the entertainment of playing poker from the rest of many far more important aspects of living like spouse and children. Folks who are prone to black and white statements like, "Poker IS an addiction." might have some realities of life issues as well. Morality has a few absolutes (we probably should not murder innocent people) and quite a bit of "shades of gray", hence the notion of moderation. I hope the fellow in the video gets the help he needs to tame his addictions. Do not worry about me, however, as I have a firm grasp on moderating my own adult activities. I am also willing to take full responsibility for the consequences of all of my self-moderated activities, as I am an adult, mostly.

I don't find a problem with being "addicted" to poker as long as it doesn't control your life and cause you financial problems. I probably play about 20 - 30 hours a week and still find time for everything else - I just don't watch tv for 20 - 30 hours a week like many people in the world do. It also hasn't really cost me any money - if anything, I'm well ahead over the course of my lifetime. Online, I'm slightly behind in cash games, probably averaging a 2bb/100 hands loss - but it comes back to me in forms of bonuses & rb. In tourney & s n' g play, I'm well ahead for the year.

So, let's see. Something like 20-25% of poker players are winning players. 90% of small businesses fail. I never really thought about it that way. I'm going to start telling entrepreneurs to give up and play poker. On a more serious note, poker is not an addiction, it's a game. Playing poker a lot does not make one an addict. I play poker a lot when I'm winning and having fun. When I'm not winning, or bored with it, I quit for months or a year (only been playing 3) at a time, and don't miss it, or honestly even really think about it. You can waste your life doing lots of things. Poker is one of them. Next? RF

Wrong place to put that video idiot. After all this is a site to talk all about cards and help each other get better at the game not to give it up!! Hell go post a video on Budweisers website of that guy telling people not to drink or how bout Marlboro and tell them not to smoke. Thats the same concept as the Anti poker video You just posted on a poker site. HOW DUMB CAN U BE????

Thanks for the video, rather negative but makes some very valid points. I feel it is very appropriate for discussion. If members gain some insight from this video, it is a benefit. The statement "If some of you are adicted to poker and are realy losing alot of money" was a poor way to introduce the subject. Obviously this offended some members, but I'll Bet it will open up the eyes of others.

This will sound really sad but I have no friends, seriously. I never have had friends besides people who feel sorry for me or are just trying to use me. I could do other stuff with my time like watch tv or play computer games but generally I fail to see how thats anymore constructive. I make more from poker now then I would from a min wage job and am getting whole grades above a first in my degree so I fail to see what else I could do with my time. If you call that an addiction then meh, but seriously I have nothing else and it was this way, long before poker.

Yeah I seen a lot of it, its not a bad attempt a lot of people playing poker are people trying to get rich quick, a lot do not know what they are doing and lose a lot of money persuading them to get out and go for another get rich quick idea is actually targeting the perfect market, its borderline genius.

"Listen to me ..... I've played for a few years ..........." Why am I listening to this guy again? As he bashes successful people that he doesn't know, about a game he is not successful at that he has "played for a few years" ? This vid does prove one thing: It's way too easy to get your bullshit opinion posted on the interweb.

A marketing video for his own scam. Poker is just an alternative to watching crappy TV or playing computer games..but you can actually turn a profit as well. Im sure there are some gambling addicts that play poker..but ill wager they blow just as much if not more on other casino games and sports betting.

You know truthfully, there is truth to this video, but I think if you need help, I'm sure nobody is that stupid, to not know that they kinda have a problem,I mean if your spending your mortgage or rent payment, I think you know that your doing this an more then likely you won't have a place to sleep sooner or later,I'd say the majority of people know this, and do just play for fun,

Boooooooo if you can not control your self and lose a ton of money then you might have a problem. I personally find poker more like my hobby and something that relaxes me after a long hard day at work. So you should find a better place to post a video like that after all we all love poker here at CC! GL and try not too get addicted any of the other things that are bad for you!

| EL OH EL Trick question, nobody wants to be Phil Hellmuth Where's Poker Lesson #3? Cliff notes: Poker=Gambling=Addiction=100% FACT Nobody wins, but if they do they lose their family Makes you a fat insomniac that smokes and drinks Poker is an addiction Nothing wrong with an addiction unless it hurts you....and poker's not good for you Doyle Brunson sucks as a person, Negraneu is a gamblaholic, Hellmuth/Matasow SAL Poker brings you down as a person Poker gives you a rush (my favorite quote) Quit playing! Become an entrepreneur I think this guy's plan is to get as many decent players out of poker as he can so he can get that rush of winning a pot again.
