To Add or Not to Add? I can understand why some do the rebuy at least once but then there are some that do muliples thats kinda wierd I think especially the ones that do like more than ten, depending on what place you finish I guess.. But as far as adding on, do you guys think that this is a good move? I usually never do the add on myself because I can't ever figure out what would be the purpose... I mean if I have 10k chips and I add on another 2 k, doesnt feel like that will make much of a difference? Or am I wrong, does it make a difference in the long run?

Well, the more money you have to play with . . . the more you can win? If you come up with a killer hand and get an all-in call, wouldn't you want to have more to win more? Plus, more chips have a different effect on the other players . . . the more chips you have, sometimes, the less they want to mess with you (and the more bluffs you can get away with), etc.

Of course I would want to have more, but if all the others are adding on too, especially the bigger stacks and anyone who is about the same as I am, this is when I think it doesnt make much of a difference.. does it makes sense what I am asking though? I mean if everyone thinks this way then everyone would be adding and then the stack difference remains the same, right? |

re: To Add or Not to Add? poker I think the real serious MTT player is going to auto-add-on every time. For a play-for-fun, weekend type player, if you have a large 10k stack and you feel what's another 2k, then you probably don't need to and shouldn't add-on.

you should never invest more than what the lowest payout is. and you should always take the addon. unless your still goimg to be a short stack. so you should keep the addon in mind if you decide to rebuy. its all about feeling your better than the average player. if you think your better than the other player wouldn't you want both of you to have deeper stacks?

There are very few circumstances where you wouldn't want to add on. It is almost always to your advantage to do so - and a disadvantage not to do so. I watched a vdeo at Stox which discussed this - if I get a chance I will go back to it and see what Matt Matros said about it. It seems like his only exception was if you were ridiculously short stacked and the chips would give you nothing to work with for the cost of the them. And ridiculous means like a few hundred chips lol.

well thanks all for your feedback! I finally did an add on last nite, it didn't quite work out for me since I didnt get very far after the add on. I got unlucky and lost with my pocket ladies (queen on the turn, I called the guy who put me all in, he got a straight on the river)

I always add on unless short stacked but then I have a rule about rebuying which generally goes I will rebuy if i Strike out if I think the standard of play is bad at the table or if more then half the table have me covered after I rebuy or close to it. I might go for the $3 rebuy I need some cash to quit my job and fund uni with pure poker winnings but in order to do it without stress or risk of complete disaster I need $16000. cashing out recently to pay my first half of this years tuition fees has badly hurt my roll. might as well take a long shot when the time is right. I still have a four figure roll so can rebuy a lot if it seems economically sensible at the table.
