AA vs AA
How rare is AA vs AA?
pot calculator anyone? got my digi? Need to weigh my pot odds. This is a strange occurence, ofcourse us online folk have probably seen it a few times aswell as the live folk, but we all know where we truly want to see it.............................the tx'holdem table game, whats that pay if u hit it like 10,000 to 1 if u throw your bet down. Could the worst bad beat be AA vs AA when one of the suits comes running 4 times on the board? |

Yep, me too, lost em
Hi all, I had AA in this situation just one time, at pacific poker, other guy ended up with a flush. Strange how they do that so often with pocket pairs, during many many tournaments (MTT) i've seen KK against AA and JJ or something similar, I wonder if it throws high pocket pairs out in one go like that to increase the number of people taken out, it happens such a lot. it actually happened last night on the WSOP Pot Limit Hold-em game on ESPN, Phil helmouth and some Gal both were dealt A A and the 3rd. guy had k K, the Aces held up and phil & the gal split the pot, the guy with KK was knocked out,, the odds of 2 players having Pocket AA and a 3rd. having Pocket KK got to be tremendous,,, buck

I had it just the other day on Pokerrom, first time ever. Got all my my money in pre-flop as did my opponent. We just split the pot. It was one of those nights where even if you did get a good hand you either lost it or split it. Sigh.....

Its funny how some people see more odd hands and situations over time and others never see those odd hands even with the exact amount hands played.
Must prove a fact about cards and shuffling 52 in the deck....... Its always gonna be perfectly random...despite people's cries of "rigged" or "fixed"....however this brings us to the debate how random are the deals if u use the same person or machine to shuffle the 52 cards over a period of time? The word random is used to express lack of order, purpose, cause, or predictability in non-scientific parlance. A random process is a repeating process whose outcomes follow no describable deterministic pattern, but follow a probability distribution.(wikipedia) |

Never seen AA vs AA...
But i've been in a hand with KK vs. KK vs. AA. And i had the AA... The other similarly unlikely occurrence AK vs AK vs AA. Guess what? I had the AA... Another time was JJ vs QQ vs KK vs AA. Yup, i had the AA again and hit the A on the river. Scariest hand i ever played. Though i was gonna have a heart attack knowing that any J Q or K would own me. Another funny thing is another player said in chat he folded TT... Also, I'm the kinda person that forgets the bad beats and just remembers the monsters that i win... |

I've hit the flush twice AA vs AA and lost to the flush once (FullTilt) in a year of online play. On another note, was once at a small stakes Limit HE cash table holding Ac10c against 3 other players. Flop is all clubs, turn club, river club, there's no paint on the board and all our chips are in the middle. Player to my left has the jack, next guy has the queen, third guy has the king. That was fun.

Odds of AA vs AA are 220 (odds of first pair) * 1224 (odds of second pair once first set) or 1 in 269,500 hands. Same for any matching pairs. I had a KK vs KK and lost to the flush.

i think you did this incorrectly, or at the very least, your phrasing was misleading. pretty sure these odds would be correct (i'm assuming, i'll trust your math) if you were talking about heads up play, or specifically, it happening with you against precisely one pre-determined villain. the fact that there are actually multiple players with the opportunity to pick up the pair make the odds significantly better

Yes, that was heads-up odds. If you are at a table with eight other players, it would be 1/8 as big, since, once you set the third ace, the fourth must go in that hand. Math is 52/4 x 51/3 -1 for your pair, then 1/8 x 50/2 x 49/1 -1 for the second.

The useless number is the odds of happening or number of hands that you will have to play on average to see AA vs. AA on a nine player table. But it is 1:33,688.

I have been AA v AA perhaps 3 or 4 times in my life, the last being almost a year ago. Felt bad as the board dealt a flush to me, nice to win but what an awefull suckout to make against a player I respect. There we're plenty of railers going nuts on the side adding anguish to his agony of being knocked out of the final table.
