6-max vs. Full Ring (9-max)
Just a quick question. When i get back to playing im going to hit the low limit cash tables where i nearly always play full ring, soley for the reasoning in my mind that at 9-max the blinds will hit me less so ill get to see more hands for cheaper? However im thinking of having a look at the 6-max tables so i was wondering how tactics should change at 6-max. Im guessing that due to there being less people you have to loosen up a little and widen your range? Why do people generally play 6-max, is it more profitably ect? Anyway suggestions and advice are very welcome Thanks Last edited by ajrobin : 15-04-2008 at 9:25 PM. |

Try them both and see which one you like better. Or you could play both 6max and fullring. It seems like there is more money to be won in 6max. The only reason I play fullring is because I can play more tables.

OP - The main differences from FR to playing 6 max is aggression and loosening up. The blinds vcome round more often so playing uber nitty at 6max wont be that beneficial. Sure you can win playing that style at micro stakes but you will have to loosen up your range a little to adjust somewhat FR. At FR your utg opening range maybe JJ+, AK. Whereas at 6max it maybe something like 78s, 89s TJs, KJs, AJ+ 22+. As you get to the c/o and btn then your range will widen considerably. It is widely regarded that b/c the action is so loose at 6max the your winrate can be somewhat better than FR, however there are some FR experts on here that would justifybly dispute that. Take some time to think about it b/c unless you can adjust to 6max's loose style, where variance maybe considerably higher than FR, then it may not be worth it just yet. |
