5 Royals in 5 months

So I've been playing one form of poker or another since I was 16 (mainly family back then and the occasional game at school). I continued with a kind of hit-n-miss policy through most of my 20's and started losing touch with gambling all together in my early 30's before the boom hit as I entered my late-30's. In all that time, up to last November, the best hand I'd ever been dealt was the straight flush (Jack-high, I think). It was weird I'd see other players hitting the Royal every once in a while and when I finally move over to on-line play I'd see someone else hit it at least once a week on average. Of course I'd heard everyone else's "Royal Story" but I still didn't have one of my own.

So in late in November of -05, I finally hit my first, after another player moved all-in and I had the open ended straight/flush draw to a King-high flush. I hit runner-runner to catch that first Royal. The guy (he was holding a set) was so pissed he went on to berate me for calling his all-in for nearly ten minutes while sitting out without any money, before finally leaving. Good times; GOOD TIMES!!!

Fast-forward a month and a half to mid-January of this last year where I suddenly hit my second Royal, making this one naturally, on the flop and got paid off on it too! This time the guy hit a FH on the river after I'd slow played to the river. I didn't get to move all-in but over half of my stack was in play making it still a very profitable hand in the end. This time the guy complimented me on the play and I got the usual accolades from around the table.

Then on one Saturday night (two months later) in early March, I logged in to play a few hands before heading off to bed and as I was setting up my screen to play my standard 9 tables I flopped another one before I had all 9 set-up! I slow played it again, but no one had a hand and it was obvious so I just checked it down to the river knowing that if I had bet it would be folds all around and I wanted to show it off. It turned out I was right because when the cards we're revealed everyone had crap hands. Number three was kind of anticlimactic, but still nice.

All that was pretty cool and I was happy to not only have finally hit the Royal, but to have made it three times in such a short period made it really wild. So anyway, I finish up that session about 2 hours later and hit the sack.

I normally get up early for work, between 4:00 - 5:00am (its okay, I'm a morning person anyway), and even though it was Sunday I woke up a little after 4:00 without an alarm and after doing the morning prep thing I stumble into the office and log in. I love playing so early in the morning, a lot of insomniac fish not making good decisions. So anyway, about 30 minutes in I see another Royal Flush start to form when I catch:



and the board comes out:



It's a long shot, but hey, I find myself again in a prime spot to see it play out and after some heavy ended betting on the flop, where the guy is obviously trying to push me out, I make the call (prolly against the odds, I don't remember for sure, but even if it was it was barely outside). The turn was a mixed blessing:



The guy checks and since the board paired I’m reasonable sure I just became a long shot to win the hand against what is almost a guaranteed Full house that I’m up against, so I follow with another check and I'm ready to just call it down at this point on the river as long as he doesn’t make it too expensive. Then the river floats out



and the guy bets into me!

Drools!

I pop him back by doubling his bet and after a few seconds in his tank he finally comes out and re-raises back into me. Now I can't seem to help myself and inadvertently push in all of my chips as fast as humanly possible, obviously a little over-excited about the fourth Royal. The speed of my bet evidently clued him in because he took half of his allotted time before finally folding. I show the royal and he said, "Thought so, I had Kings full of 5's". Don't know if it was the truth, and if it was the truth it was an awesome lay-down, but who cares I hit 4 Royals in 4 months. I finally got my "Royal Story"; kinda cool!
But then it goes on….
It was the last day of March and BOOM I hit ANOTHER ROYAL!!!!

I had hit a brick wall during the early part of the month in the process of building my bankroll when I started hitting an incredible number of suck outs. All I've been able to do is tread water with my bankroll ballancing out the heavy losses with grinding out small profits on the other tables.
So when I got up that morning I really wasn’t expecting much of anything. I jump on and I'm playing for about an hour and a half when the following hand plays out:

I knew if I'd bet any more on the river he would have folded and I absolutely HAD to show this one. I mean really five Royals in 5 months.

Very nice royal flush run, but showing the royal I think is bad for you.

great run. i've had 2 one online and one live got it just last week

I've had 5 Royals (all online) over the course of 4.5 years. That's pretty amazing to do it in 5 months.

There is no way that guy lays down Kings full of 5s because he was afraid of the royal flush out there. That would be a terrible fold, even if he was right.

Showing Royals is not personal, it is necessary to show all players that they do happen. Else we all get stuck in a rut believing every hand from here to eternity will be the same old 93o.

Couple of straight flushes online but never the elusive Royal!

i have been dealt 2 st8 flushes and only 2 they both have been beat by royals now if that isnt a bad beat i dont know what is . terrible luck for me!

Wow just hit my first royal, hit hearts in bodog what a rush. Playing a friendly table go all in and other players thinking weather to lay down his trips. Had another player telling him i had no hearts and to do it, alas he folded. Usally my cards get mucked they didnt then

You didn't really need to quote that.

I've had one royal flush ever, online. Ace Queen of diamonds, in some insignificant tourney, I go all in, I get called by one person, 5 3 of hearts. By the turn I get my Royal Flush, beating a pair of 3's lol.
