3 pocket pairs

On an eight-handed table what are the odds three players will be dealt pocket pairs as hole cards?

hey man that is a good question... something weird i noticed when playing on bodog was that after the first break a few people usually go all in and there usually is at least 2 people with pocket pairs...

I had a nice hand a few nights ago, QQvsQQvs me, KK. all of us all in preflop

i was once involved in a six seater were not only did three players start with pocket pairs aa-jj and me with 88 were all three hit trips what is the chance of this and yes it did cost me a fair bit

Yep, it does seem to be very common on quite a few sites. The first hand after a break can be a pocket pair fest.

its total random on the outcome but i'd say it's pretty rare for 3ppl to have PP.

First hand dealt, I had KK, made a $200 bet, next guy goes all in, then a caller, then to me. WTF i call, 99 vs. TT vs. KK.
9 hits the flop and worst hand wins. Imagine that

I played a heads up cash game the other day and my opponent got AA when I got KK... I lost quite a lot on that hand.

I had this today in a 6 max sng, i lost of course, feels like it happens more than it should do.

Well, it's 16 to 1 that you should get dealt a pocket pair so three pocket pairs as hole cards in one hand should be 16 to 1 x 16 to 1 x 16 to 1 - which I make to be 4,000 to 1. So it should be pretty rare. Comes up an awful lot in the first hand after a break though...

Taking for granted that 4000 to 1 is correctthen figure this. If you are playing in a tourney with 2700 players that would be 300 tables or 300 hands dealt after a break. So roughly every 13 times this would happen to total 4000 hands. Thus rare but not impossible.

This just happened and I deemed it appropriate for the thread. First hand in the tournament.

I remember having AA vs QQ/QQ once, all in preflop. I also remember loosing that hand to a flush..That sucked.

Had AA first hand of an FT tourney last week, opp all inned with QQ, 3rd A & Q on flop, 4th A on turn - whilst I suppose if Q had popped up on river it would have been a more impressive story it still stands out as a hand I'll remember.

I have never seen a hand like this. I was counting my blessings that I wasn't in it.

This is rare, very rare, but I have not only seen it but been on the losing end of it during a live ring game, I had KK vs. AA vs QQ and flop was AKQ, we were all ai by river and I asked the dealer to pause so I could take a picture with my phone but the floor wouldn't allow it.
