from .25/.50 to .50/1.00

I've been playing on .25/.50, for quite some time now, and I've finally decided to make the jump to .50/1.00. I actually decided last night, and playing for only 3 hours, I made $300. I'm just curious what kind of difference I should expect. Honestly, I've found the play to be weaker than .25/.50, which does not make any sense and obviously I can't take too much out of it, playing only 1000 hands. I'm also wondering if it's possible to make some sort of an income at this level. I'm currently attending college and was using my earnings from .25/.50 to pay for my expenses, but just barely getting by. I'm hoping this new level will provide me with a larger flow of income. If anyone else is playing this level I would love to hear from you. Any feedback or general advice would also be appreciated.

Have you considerd that last nights opponenets may gave been weaker because it was a friday night and thats when all the 'tourists' and 'drunks' come out to play.

yes, i was not very specific. NL holdem, full ring, fulltilt. I usually only play 2 tables, i never liked playing anymore, sometimes i'll play 3. I need have the concentration, i don't think, to play more than 2 tables. And yes, I realize that late friday night is going to make a prime donk period.

That's the game I'm playing on Stars right now, from what I've heard they're similar. If you're playing 2-3 tables you're going to have to play a lot to make a decent income there. Generally a solid winrate is 3-4 BB/100 (BB=Big Bet=2*big blind). That means every 100 hands you play, assuming you're a very good solid player (one of the top ones at the site basically) you would make $6-$8. Now I think 70-80 hands/hour is accurate at FR, so if you play 3, that's $12-$16/hour. Now that's better than minimum wage, but always remember if you're relying on poker for income you need backup, and generally you want a high winrate, just to get through the bad times where you go weeks where you lose.
