2008 WSOP Predictions

I did this thread last year (with pretty bad results) but I figured I'd throw out some more predictions this year.

This is just for fun, I'm not interested in any action on these.

So here we go...

* Daniel Negreanu has stated he'd put up 100-1 for anyone who didn't think he'd win a bracelet. Well I don't think he will.

* Allen Cunningham will tie Doyle as the only player to win a bracelet in 4 consecutive years.

* Michael Binger will win a bracelet and break the most cashes for one WSOP with 10.

* Phil Hellmuth will win bracelet #12

* Johnny Chan will not win a bracelet

* Doyle Brunson will not win a bracelet, but will make a final table

* Phil Ivey will win 2 bracelets

* The final of the HORSE Tourney will be Ivey defeating Brunson.

* Erik Seidel will win bracelet #9 tying him with Johnny Moss

* Tom "durr" Dwan will have 4 cashes and 1 final table, but no bracelets.

* The Main Event will draw more entrants than last year (6,358)

* The "November Nine" will contain 3 well known pros.

* Jerry Yang will not make it to Day 2 of the ME

* Jamie Gold will make it to Day 4 of the ME

* Chris Moneymaker will not make it to Day 2 of the ME, but will have 1 cash during the Series

* A woman will NOT make the ME final table

* Phil Gordon will not win a bracelet

Maybe we should take bets on some of our predictions... just $5 or $10 here and there throughout the summer...

I know there are some of these that i'd like to place a bet on...

I feel soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo left out, what about my bracelets...don't they count for anything???? ((JK = Just Kidding))

I'll have a crack at a few:

- Barry Greenstein will make the final table of the $50K HORSE
- Nick Frangos will win his first bracelet
- Marco Traniello will make at least seven cashes
- Humberto Brenes will make at least two final tables, without winning a bracelet
- John Juanda will finish in the top 10 for Player of the Year
- Chris Ferguson will win a bracelet
- Phil Ivey won't win a bracelet
- Erick Lindgren won't win a bracelet
- Kathy Liebert will make the final table of the ladies event, but won't win

...and of course, the ME will be won by an unknown..!

allen cunningham wins 2 bracelets
phil ivey only plays 8 events and makes 1 final table
binger only has 2 cashes
phil hellmuth complains about atleast, 26 bad beats
jaime gold makes a ft
greg raymer will win the 10K omaha championship event

Only one for now:

- Phil Ivey makes an amateur pee his pants in the ME

My first prediction ...

Hellmuth wins 2 bracelets
Annette Oberstad if she plays will win the ladies.

Scotty Nguyen will finally win something!

Gabe Caplan will wear another dorkey cowboy hat.

An amateur will win the ME and everyone and his dog will claim he is bad for poker and a luck-sack with more lucky winning hands than Mr Lucky from Lucksville

Hellmuth gets no cashes and no braclets and exploits because of bad beats.
Phil Laak will win 2bracelets
Ivey will ITM 6 and final table 3 events but get 0 braclets
Matusow will attack a unkown ameture when he bubbles the ME.
A pro will win the ME!
Phil Gordon will cash in 2 and get one bracelet

She is still 19. And my guess is that when she is 21 in 2010, she'll win bracelet(s) in more than just the Ladies tourney.

Im guessing she wil break the bracelet record when she starts to play the US WSOP.
I dont get how alot of people call her a donk,she is just a top super aggresive player that haves proven her self time and time again and there a still people(on this site included) that just say she´s a luckbox.

^^ She will forever have my respect after she played a hand in the european wsop. basically she raised with 4,6 in the co and was called by the button. Flop came 6,9,k. She then checked, villain bet, she raised, villain 3bet, then she 4bet pushed all in with bottom pair no kicker. The villain then proceeded to fold 7,8

Also is anyone actually willing to take any action on their predictions???

Im willing to bet like 5$ on the WSOP u just have to give me the odds

My prediction : it will be very unlikely that I win any bracelets this year, I guess you have to attend to win or something.

I personally think that Phil Ivey will shock the world. He might not win the ME, but he will get to the final table. He will win at least 1 event of decent size and buy-in.

and how will that shock the world brent? 100 to one on Negreanu, I'd have to take that just like Hawks over Celtics.

this is just wrong. but i laughed so its ok.

phil helmuth would win every bracelet in the hold em' events if it weren't for bad luck.. lol..... that's my prediction (not really).

BTW... did anybody see the PAD hu..? KK of Antonius vs AA of Chan in the first hand of heads up play. It just went down.

So 6 out of 21 for another suck-tacular year of predictions. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

- Marco Traniello will make at least seven cashes: NOT QUITE - FIVE CASHES
- Humberto Brenes will make at least two final tables, without winning a bracelet: NO BRACELET, BUT NO FINAL TABLES EITHER
- John Juanda will finish in the top 10 for Player of the Year: IS TOP 55 CLOSE ENOUGH? :P
- Chris Ferguson will win a bracelet: CLOSE, BUT NO CIGAR
- Phil Ivey won't win a bracelet: CORRECT
- Erick Lindgren won't win a bracelet: A BRACELET and PLAYER OF THE YEAR? YEAH, I WHIFFED ON THAT ONE
- Kathy Liebert will make the final table of the ladies event, but won't win: ERM... SHE MADE THE FINAL SIX TABLES... UNLESS Y'ALL WILL ACCEPT THAT BY LADIES EVENT, I ACTUALLY MEANT THE $10k PLHE. BECAUSE THAT'S A LADIES GAME, RIGHT?

Two from nine. Remind me to make more predictions along the lines of "Jean-Robert Bellande will act like a douche and not win a bracelet", "David Sklansky will do something creepy" or "At least one Full Tilt pro will end the series down six figures in publicised golfing prop bets" next year to bump my stats up

My predictions were:

A hot chick would make the ME final table (how could Tiffany let me down )
Tom Dwan win a WSOP bracelet
Phil Hellmuth win a WSOP bracelet

All wrong.... but they all came close.

It would only shock the world because a really good player making the final table would be amazing in that luckathon.

I couldn't have been more wrong with Ivey going to FT huh!!!

Careful I know that men have played in the ladies event on many occasions. Matter of fact I know that Phil Gordon has done this. I don't think he made the final table in any attempts.

Apparently Harrah's were very strict on the "ladies only means ladies only" point this year - I believe one guy tried to enter and was turned away.

Besides, like some of the coverage said: men playing in women's events is soooooooo 2003

in all seriousness though, yes. plenty of wsop bracelets have gone to women.
