| 2 entries into a CC buy-in event($5.50 each) for the winners of this contest OK, there are two prizes up for grabs, each one is a buy-in of $5.50 each to any CC event at FT. Posting requirements apply(is it 15 for CC buy-in events? someone correct this if wrong), and the only other rules are a)you must have been a member of CC before August 2008(this year) and b)your bankroll at FT must be lower than $100(screenshot of cashier page required by me before I transfer at the end of the competition). This contest will last from the moment this thread is posted for the following 5 days, no longer. Contest is as follows: Which poker pro(you can pick any, dead or alive) would you like to play HU at NL Holdem for the sum of a million pounds, if you could pick anyone in the world? Buy-in($500,000) has been covered by CC . I want to know who, and why, doesnt have to be paragraphs, but just your explanation, ok? Prizes will be awarded in 2 categories, the funniest entry(judged by me), and the most-thought through one, with a proper explanation as to why you think you could take down the pro(seriously)(again, judged by me) This contest begins now. One entry each please, either funny or serious, but not both. Oh, mtt's must be played by the end of September, 2008, if you cash for more than $20 I want my $5.50 stake back, you keep the rest. If you cash for less than $20, you keep the lot. Can we keep replies to this thread just to entries, nothing else, please, makes my job easier............... | Heads Up With A Pro... I would have to pick the self-proclaimed greatest Hold'em player (and backed up by all his WSOP Hold'em Event wins), Phil Hellmuth. Why? Well there is no doubt that Phil is a great player, but as we all know anything can happen during a game, sick cards, sick beats and of course bluffing...especially Heads Up, and to beat him, me a guy who doesn't play much, especially Hold'em and who's still fairly new to poker, to acomplish such a feat would be a great feeling, giving hope to anyone wanting to play poker. Plus, the bonus of him blowing up because this young Aussie guy, who still is learning the game to outplay him would be hilarious...I mean he can beat bullets, but he can't beat ME? Is he really as good as he thinks he is? Is he losing his edge? So much that ME, a nobody really beat HIM, the great Phil Hellmuth in a million pound prize. What a thing to hold over him for the rest of my life, an ameteur ameteur poker player beating a professional pro poker player...would it mean the only difference between us would be that I have a life outside of poker and he doesn't? |

Hi KD, The Poker Pro I would most like to go into HU battle with is Phil Gordon. The guy truly embraces the living in life and is for all practical purposes a genius. He also appears to be humble and charming. I think I would have a good chance to win only because I would pull out the voodoo, meaning the energy exchange would allow me to get a good read. He doesn't strike me as one who is full of shit or a bluffer in an exchange of mutual respect. I would play via pure instinct working the Lady charm and intensity of eye contact if possible. You can read a lot about a person via the eyes and body language - I believe even the hand they hold.

I think the best person to go head to head with is Tony G. he always seems to get so lucky, going all in with 10 8 and beating KK or going all in with pair 7s on the flop against KK and then he rivers him. id just go all in with any decent hand :P Im sure that'll annoy him somewhat!

Even though I dont meet the requirements.... I would love to go up against Allen cunningham not only b/c it would be one hell of a challenge to catch any type of read on him. But, I would try my best to get at him by constantly cracking Happy Days jokes ! Seriously I have seen him play live once and the guy never changes his demeanor what so ever. It would be like playing a brick wall. Talk about an interesting challenge. Oh I would also wear a shirt with this on it

Id go with Phil Ivey because he is like the Tiger Woods of poker. I am the Rocco Mediate of poker. I would beat him because i think that i would confuse him with my great knowledge of the game. I would bust him and then go to a strip club.

Well if I could pick any, It would obviously be Daniel Negreanu. He is not only my favorite(Lindgren is growing on me), but I just know that guy has skills, meaning that If I beat him HU, I could have bragging rights, plus the self satisfaction and gratituity of beating someone on a whole other level than me on poker. I also think the actual time and conversations with him would be enjoyable since he is a character himself. The HU war itself would be multiple mindgames, once we figured eachother out(lol @ me figuring him out)..... there ya go KD

re: 2 entries into a CC buy-in event($5.50 each) for the winners of this contest poker I would like to play Gavin Smith because he seems to be a pretty funny guy(Seems drunk most times LOL) and tends to play some very questionable starting hands. I feel that I might have a chance against him because I have a basic read on him from TV appearances and he has no clue who I am. The convo at the table would be the best part, just because he seems very open to talking it up while playing. Yeah, he is also a Canuck so I make sure I can beat fellow Canadians before I take on the world. GL to all on and off the felts.

I'd like to play self-proclaimed poker pro and multi-billionaire Andy Beal. He'd be so eager to take on some no name as long as there was a million on the line. If you know anything about this guy, you know he's not exactly a pro by definition but has played some pretty high stakes poker in his time...all on a whim fwiw...and, against the best in the business (ie..Doyle and gang). He's a numbers guy with a sharp memory but not so sure he could last HU with me. I'm sure he'd be willing to go double or nothing after I beat him down the first time. After I knocked him out of that, hopefully I could pick up some sort of odd job for the man...I mean, damn...he is a multi-billionaire. Then again, a million or 2 richer, I might just retire.

First off I'd like to say that this is an awesome way to spark interest into the forums and it really gets people to open up and come together as a group. But on to the task at hand: If I had to choose a poker pro to play heads up with it (and especially for the stakes you have described) it would have to be Phil Ivey. Now most people would probably want to play someone for that kind of money that they could easily beat. However if you want to be the best you have to beat the best (in his best event to boot). I could have easily chosen Hellmuth just because it would have been awesome to play him, beat him and watch the madness ensue, but I'm sure there will come a time for that too. Or Doyle Brunson to pass a story on to my kids that I sat with a poker legend for the ultimate stakes win or lose. Another few that come to mind would be Gold, Farha, Unger, Reese, Matusow but in my eyes it has to be Phil Ivey. Sure you'd get a good laugh, or a great story by playing with those guys but theres something about Ivey that intrigues me. I watch alot of poker and theres just something about Iveys' game that separates him from your normal poker player (even the great ones). He has that uncanny ability to put moves on and make plays with no emotion at all. Plus that evil stare down that he puts on you doesnt hurt any either. The bragging rights and the chance to play against someone like Phil are a once in a lifetime opportunity...................... So there it is. Phil Ivey come get some!

For me it would have to be Matusow, because after I start to beat him at poker and his mouth starts a flappin, I would climb over the table and take pleasure in smacking him senseless, then i would rip his head off and s..t down his throat, then calmly sit down and continue to play, and if he continued to flap his gums I would tell him to stop talking s..t then slap him around a bit more. As for American Graffiti it was George Lucas who wrote and directed it, you might know him from his other little movie called Star Wars. Ron Howard who is on the above T shirt was in American Graffiti and then he went on to star in Happy Days, which was a spin off of American Graffiti.

re: 2 entries into a CC buy-in event($5.50 each) for the winners of this contest poker KD I'd have to go with Chris Fergusson. Why? I just feel like we're so alike because people call him "Jesus", and people call me "God", so the HU match could be called "Jesus vs. God".
