10nl profit rate

I'm just getting back into online poker after playing on and off for the past few years. The smartest thing I've ever done is start keeping track of my play in my own database. I found I'm making a huge (IMO) profit in 10nl full tables at bodog. In about 24 hours of play (over 5 weeks or so), I'm making $4.48/hour. This is actually per table per hour, but I rarely multitable, so my real hourly rate is only marginally higher.

I guess my main questions are is this rate sustainable or am I just on a good streak? what is a typical hourly profit rate for a decent winning player at these limits?

Also should I start multitabling more, or get more practice at a single table? Right now I still feel thrown off at times with two tables.

i think thats a good rate for those stakes. I play limit $2/$4 and $3/$6 so I don't know what the profit should be on those tables. If you multitable you might make more of a profit though. Someone might come along and be able to help better. Good luck though.

It's a bit high to be entirely sustainable, but on the other hand Bodog's 10NL is sooo bad that maybe it is. IIRC, 10NL there is about as clueless as 2NL on PS.

The thing is: you're not supposed to find out if it can be sustained or not because at this rate you should be properly rolled for 25NL in no time and move up.

I agree with Belgo about not being entirely sustainable. But you can definitely pull a big number there, due to like he said, play about as bad if not worse than the .01/.02. People just never seem to believe you at .05/.10.

As far as having a 25nl BR in no time: Really? Maybe I'm a nit with moving up, but if I started with 30 buyins at $10nl, I'd want at least 40 if not 45 buyins for 25nl before I was trying to play there. That's $1000-$1125 which = $700 profit from the starting bankroll. Keeping hot at $4.48 an hour, he's got 156 hours of play before he's there, and if he's doing one table, def not a reg ya know? Couple hours a night every night takes 3months or so, which I guess isn't forever.

I was just curious about what your methods for moving up and down stakes were in comparison. If you like to take shots here and there, and if you do well then maybe you stick with it? I go with increase BR by 50% in terms of buyins for next level = move up. If I lose 1/2 my starting bankroll at a level I have to move down. If I see a game that looks really good I will sit occasionally, but I go back to my current level after I'm done with that table regardless of outcome.

I was overrolled for 25NL when i switched to cash from SNGs, so I don't have BRM rules in place for micro stakes.

Moving from 25 to 50NL I used a 40 buy-ins rule.

I'm about to start moving from 50 to 100NL. My plan is as follows:

Take 1st shot with 36 buy-ins. Drop down if below 35.
Take 2nd shot with 37 buy-ins. Drop down if below 35.5.
Take 3rd shot with 38 buy-ins. Drop down if below 36.
Take 4th shot with 39 buy-ins. Drop down if below 36.5.
Take next shots with 40 buy-ins and drop down below 37.

Hopefully I won't need that many shots. As soon as BR goes over 40 buy-ins I'll stick to the 37/40 rule.

I actually started playing 10nl with around 120 bankroll, now I'm up to 380 (also got lucky in some tourneys)

I am a little anxious to move up since I'm excited and feel I've finally got a game beat, but I'll wait.

Another question, should I expect a lot better play in 25nl?

25nl on pokerstars is quite soft imo. Just moved up there from 10nl and I personally find that the play is worse, a lot of short stacks to steal from and bankrolls that don't fit the limits.

Hey I'm playing 10NL too now.

My win rate is lower than yours though but I think we've played about the same total. Not that I'm saying a higher winrate isn't attainable, my game definitely has some leaks and I've heard bodog is a bit easier than Stars.

Mine is 14.06/100 hands (in big blinds)
Over 7532 hands

also my hourly rate is lower than yours at 3.33$/hour

Which makes me assume that your winrate/100 should actually be quite a bit greater per 100 hands than mine because I usually play four tables.

If your one tabling and winning 4.48/hour then you should have a pretty high winrate. Because In an hour at one table I see approx 55 hands..

so your winrate should be roughly 44.8/55 hands (4.48$=44.8 Big blinds)
or
81.45/100 (in big blinds)

So if my math is right I would have to say your probably on a nice heater. But again bodog might be significantly softer and the play might be quite a bit faster allowing you to see more hands/hour than Stars.

thanks for posting your winrate and hourly rate. I've only played est. 1500 hands or so since I started tracking so I'll have to see how much my rates drop off.

I think you do see slightly more hands/hour on bodog, the gui moves slightly faster then pokerstars and I think they give less time to act. I think is see at least 60 hands/hour on bodog.

I also think bodog is easier then stars. I played the .01/.02 nl tables a bit a few years ago, and I don't remember them being as easy as bodog. Then again, I think I've stepped up my game, and I wasn't even keeping track of if I was winning or not on pokerstars back then.

I think one reason bodog seems easier is the 10nl is the lowest limit nl holdem cash game, so noobs are just forced to play way above their bankroll.

I also gonna try doing two tables more often and see how that goes.

Yea, I have about 90 on bodog but I really just play stud and omaha and games my tracker doesn't really do anyway lol.

I think It's funny how close we are though to bankroll and everything though, Like I'm at ~355 grinding my way up to 25 NL right now just as you say you are.

my main advice is dont move up or open more tables until u are comfortable and have a high enough bankroll to do so
