A x suited
Ok..now I've been seeing myself loose a little bit of money this way and want to see if anyone can help me out here.
Usually if i'm in good position ill pick up a hand like A 2 suited....then someone raises, not a huge raise but like a min raise or 3 x raise...anyways i'll call, you know hopping to hit the flush draw or flush on the flop.........i usually don't hit and i'll hit an ace which i find isnt good to a raise unless i hit my kicker for two pair....any ways what are the odds ill hit the flush on the flop and should i just pitch these low A suited cards to a raise???? |

Generally, unless you're in late position, you need to throw the hand away. Simply put, the hand is weak, and the chances are higher that you will miss a flush then make a flush. Also, it depends on where you play the hand; depends on whether you're short stacked at a table or the big stack. Short stack: depending on how short stacked you are, and what the blinds are, you prob could push all in here and be fine and see what happens, although, there are better hands that if you can afford to wait, you prob should. It all depends on situation really.

In terms of odds, I think it is something like 8:1 to flop a flush draw, and 118:1 to flop a flush with this sort of hand, so most of the time you are going to have nothing on the flop, and if you do pair a Ace, and get action, then you are probably beat. I dont usually call raises with Ax suited, although can raise if I am in late position and no one else has entered or raised. Having said all that Ax suited is one of my favourite hands because when they hit, you can win big.

Remember too that even if you do flop your flush draw, you're still only 35% to make the flush if you can see the hand all the way to the river. You're only about 19% to make the flush on the turn, and unless you're all in you'll have to face another round of betting at this point which might push you out of the hand.
Yes, it can give a decent payoff when it hits, but I doubt if it's a +EV play if you're calling 3BB bets every time just to see a flop. |

i only play a small suited Ace if i can limp in...
if i flop the flush, great! i slow play... if i pair my Ace, I bet BB or 2xBB, just to see where I am... if i get raised, i go to my read on the guy, depending on that, i either re-raise or fold... if i flop a flush draw, i either check or semi-bluff (again, depending on my reads on the players still on the hand) well, that's me... of course, i sometimes mix it up, but that's usually the way I play... |

if I do play ace-rag suited in early position, its if the rest of the table are weak, and because I'm the first person to act post flop, if I hit a flush draw, I'll bet into the flush draw as though I were trying to prevent others from making the flush.
a few things can happen here either: 1. everyone folds 2. someone calls but there's no flush card, but if they are calling and not raising, they can't be that strong anyway and I'll check to them and see what happens 3. you hit the flush, in which case I'll check it to the other dude in the hopes that he made his. |
