Winning the river

For some reason can not seem to avoid a showdown once i get to the river. I get called way to easy, even with big bets in late position.

here is a recent session, just a few hands but you'll get the idea.

well for one the big bet on the river should make sense. and often if someone gets that deep in the hand its tough to get them off it. so my best advice to aviod showdown would be to fold earlier in the hand.

Bet Size

Its tought to say based on the stats alone. What size bets are you making on the river? If you are giving a good value, you will get called. Then again, if you make it look like you are trying to get more out of them, you can avoid the showdown or just over bet. I also see people with these odd bets like 999 or 555. Sometimes that scares people...

You have less and less fold equity as the hand goes on.

Are these HU stats? If it's a full ring, you are in an awful lot of pots. Looks like the stats of someone I'd be seeing the river with on any hand I have something. Anything. I'd play you like I play a maniac. You would have a tough time forcing me out of a hand. I'd pay you off a couple of times; you'd pay me a lot more.

If you want your bets to have respect, play less. If you want action, you are right on track.

re: Winning the river poker

No these are ring game stats, and yes I am a loose player in general.
I do play alot of hands, but it is a style that works for me. I have sucess playing with my style but sometimes should win the hand on the river but end up getting sucked out and its frustrating.

Sounds like you just aren't betting enough post flop with the best hand. Make em pay more to see the turn. If you get called quickly or reraised then be cautious. Usually if I see someone take forever to just call I put them on a draw.

Betting speed is a pretty good tell in online poker. People with good hands are just chomping at the bit to put more money in the pot.
