| Why is it that? I play better at the 10nl tables 6max with a short stack than I do at the 02nl tables rull ring? I'm desperate to figure this out, cause every bit of my profits from recently have been @ the 10nl and up with a supershort stack.....I started almost 8 years ago @ ultimate bet and I think ubet has trained me in a way to play more aggressively than maybe I should (maybe that is the hole in my game)....I mean, I know online poker has changed over the years but it seems to me that ubet turned me into a lag. Bear with me here....I mean, for those of you that have played at most of the sites at some point in time for money: Does it not seem that Ultimate bet (before they had their Cereus makeover) almost created fear by the way their chips sounded. Take a raise for example, it used to have that "screw you" sounding clang when someone would raise a bet almost in a way that would create tension and fear. When someone raised me, it scared me. That was probably cause I was inexperienced on the same token...but if you were at somewhere like full tilt or pokerstars when a raise occured, there was a sound that seemed to almost "lull" you to sleep. Almost is if a call like it was no big deal. Like the chips meant nothing. That is just a sidenote, and I am in no way claiming that the way a sound comes from a raise makes a diffence when it comes to strategy and odds....but I think that when I play too aggressively at the super micro limits, no one seems to care....which has been my style of play there....as well, I dont respect 6 cents like I do 50.... the villians probably dont give it the same amount of respect either....maybe I just don't have the patience? I know this is bad bankroll mgmt....cause I only have about sixty bucks in my account right now....but playing at the 02nl full ring and 6max, I was down about 30 bucks....since I've been at the 10nl and up tables with a supershort stack, I'm up around ten...(I was up about 50)...variance came into play and thats probably why I need to be at lower limits....but I just cant seem to win over the long haul there....any suggestions?......It just seems my game fits better at the higher 6max tables....... I know that was probably a hard read, and went off on a tangent with the sounding of chips, but is there anyone here that has been in the same situation?.....maybe I just need to adjust my game..... |

| Just from your description here my guess is that you're not very good postflop. So when stacks are deep you're committing too much $$ with hands that generally don't do well 100bbs deep (TP type hands). On the other hand when your playing short it hard to make any real mistakes postflop because you're either allin preflop or on the flop. Short-stacking is actually very high variance though over the long term and you'll likely win more if you learn to play full stack poker. |

| well i actually am ok postflop.....or i feel like i am at least....however, I just cant let myself buy in for one third of my bankroll.....especially when im playing with people who for most of the time are buying in at the minimum as well....who wants to be the guy who puts up $20 agains 5 guys with $4?....I'm sure my game can use a little help on deciding how much to value bet and when to lay it down....but its not like I'm all in preflop or on the flop....It just seems easy to me to buy in with the minimum and let myself grind up to the max buyin and go from there..... |

But anyway, I know how you feel, OP. When I deposit $50 bucks I just find that I lose my shirt in the super micros. My b/r management sucks but that's because I haven't learned to discipline myself to stay away from the .25c games. I've heard a few people say that if you feel you are a decent player (which I do, I'm not a total donk) you should probably start at .10/.20 NL Anymore, I very rarely go down in the bogs with those guys. It just seems like I'm playing bingo with almost any hand I play. |
