| When To Move Up In Stakes So, I recently made the decision to make ring games my primary game selection. Prior to now, I have focues almost exclusively on SnG's and MTT's, with only the occassional foray into ring games. Since I decided to make ring games my primary game selection, I have been doing rather well, and my BR currently supports moving up to the next stake. However, I don't have a large sample size at my current stake. How should I make the decision to move up in stakes? Should it be based on what my BR can sustain, or should it be after showing profit over a large volume of hands? Or should it be both? If I do move up in stakes, what guidelines should I place on myself to make sure that I don't get in over my head? I will say that i'm currently playing .10/.25 and looking to move up to .25/.50. I do have a sample size of approx 1,000 hands at both .25/.50 and .50/1, and I have turned an overall profit at both stakes based on that sample size. Like I said, I know that is not high volume, so any advice on how to move forward here would be appreciated. |

You need to be aiming to be playing 100NL with 100 buyins ($10K) and managing your BR in such a way that that when you get to 100NL you have around 100 buyns so each increase in stakes also needs an increase in the number of buyins. |
