What's your style?
What style of play do you usually use? Which style do you feel has the most success at the casinos and at the pro lvl?
I'm pretty much just starting out and I play mostly tight aggressive. I'll raise preflop if i have something worth playing. |

Full ring I am TAG and especially position aware. 6-handed my game loosens up and I might raise 78 suited to 9-10 suited from early position to get more action and not be easy to read. If the only cards you raise with from early position in 6-handed is AK or AQ then you are like an open book. I speculate too. I also set-mine. Set mining is very important for my game since you know if the flop looks innocent and all I do is call from position AA and KK will be going all-in by the river.
Above all else I am always aggressive. But not stupid aggressive, I'm aggressive when I have outs, when I can make a monster and take someone's stack. A good example was when in a full ring game I was giving a good amount of action to this one guy. I raise from under the gun with AJ and he calls me. The flop is rainbow with K 10 8. I raise the pot, hoping to win it right there and he raises me like a quarter of the pot, I'm thinking "wow this guy has a set and if I hit my queen for a belly buster I'm taking his stack". So I just call. The turn is my red queen which closes the board to all flushes and I bet out. I bet the a bit less than the pot. I know he won't put me on that hand and that he will not fold a set. The river is a blank and I move all-in and he calls. I take his stack. The key here was that I was playing that hand ahead of time in my mind. If the turn would've been blank I would have mucked and nothing to it. Haha this is old. |

I cannot pin point one style in a tourney. With being at different tables with people I don't know, I start out with tight/aggressive. I play very few hands and play the top ten hands aggressively and use position to raise. I don't play blind protector unless I have a good drawing hand or a pair. (Usually will call a 3X-5X BB with any pair 55-JJ. Reraising with QQ-AA and AK suited). Sometimes if I am short stacked I will limp with the big pairs in early position. Risky I know, but it can be profitable. If you have a read on the table that is. X

It depends on what game I'm playing.
My general style is to play tight at the beginning then loosen up a bit when the blinds go up and tighten up again when I get close to the money. I use this for tournaments and SNG's. I don't really play cash games but if I did, I would pretty much play tight all the time unless I had a good read on some of the players. |

re: What's your style? poker
You can play any style you want. It all depends on the situation.
Single Table tourneys I'm really tight until its down to 2 players in the money then start going extremely loose aggressive, knowing im going to win money ill go all in with any two cards and let the chip leader or short stack make the call. I've gotten 1st place in all sit n gos I have played for cash. i think its mostly due to the extreme tight nature i present throughout the game and then the extreme opposite towards the end. In casinos there's no good style of play, people are there to make money or give it all away, mostly just weekend warriors or tourists where im from. But I LOVE doing this: Order one Long Island Ice Tea and pound it. Start losing small pots and act intoxicated, SHOW YOUR CARDS when you fold... then later on when you have a good hand keep acting... hollywood the nuts act like you did the first time when you showed your opponent your 3 4 offsuit. Once you start winning its only going to benefit you for about 30 minutes to an hour. Cash out and leave. This is just my own way of doing this... when someone raises I pretend Im trying to get a read on them with a semi-serious face and start laughing, act drunk, you get alot of non believers this way so you'll rake in pots |

Your style has to be able to adapt to the table you're on. Playing loose to an over aggressive opponent will get you into trouble, and playing too tight will get you blinded out. You have to play each person differently and you must know your position. Playing loose in the first act with a weak hand leaves you open to reraises and you end up donkin off your chips. Improvise, adapt, overcome.

re: What's your style? poker
I usually mix my game up on a regular basis, depending on the table atmosphere.
Sometimes I will play tight on a loose table and try to trap. On a tight table, and particulary in late stages of a tourney or in situations where everyone tightens up,like on the bubble. I will tend to see alot more flops, and loose play ,and steal blinds when in position. |
