what would you of done?

OK , Here's the scenerio...

I'm on the big blind and get 66, one guy raised the pot and everyone folded, so I reraised the pot and he called to make the pot about 30$.
Flop comes down to 457 so my pocket 6's doesnt look that bad, since now i have a decent pair plus open ended straight. I checked and he bets 20$, so I re-raised him all in (50$ i think).... i took forever for him to call i was sure he was folding, anyways he calls and flips over JJ. anyways, i didnt hit trip nor my straight. And i'm still pretty sure i did the right bet. Would anyone here made the same thing i did?

Depends what the turn and river cards would have been. I probably would have checked on the flop to see what the other player would bet.

I'm positive one of our odds experts will chime in but I ask a simpler question:

Reverse your cards, you had the pocket jacks, what would you have done?

I'd be surprised if they didn't realize they were up against a str8 draw but at that point they had the best hand...

He did check the flop, and the other guy bet $20, he said.

Anyway, I might like your play here, and I might not like it, depending what your reasons for playing this way was.

If you were raising him all-in believing he had a higher pair and that the combined chance of him folding and the chance of you catching the straight was +EV, then I love it.

If you raised thinking you had the best hand at the time, then I'm skeptical.

But if you did consider high pocket pair, but not AA (after all, he would have re-raised preflop with AA, wouldn't he?), then your play was great. Considering how long you put him in the tank and thinking the right action through, he had a difficult call - and he was probably many times close to folding the best hand.

So, well played - but was it for the right reasons?

A tough hand for you to get away from for sure... but to re-raise with pocket 6's ... not sure about that one. Y ou did mention the player with pocket J's had raised the pot already right?... I maybe just call his raise and check to him after flop.. if he bets then decide where to go from there based on his bet.
I just think that you may have put too much value in a low pair...
A good comment from last post also... just think how you would feel if you had the J's... and think how you'd feel if they got drawn out on river for a straight... you'd be posting here saying how does that so and so re-raise with just 6's !!!

A Raise before the flop, A Check raise after... seems the guy was just playing balsy with pocket Jacks

I think you played it pretty well. You made him think hard. Just nothing fell for you with about 11 outs

I like it cause you played aggresive poker and made him think. That is what a bet or even a re-raise is supposed to do. Make the person stop and think about what you may have. Yet no most people automaticaly just call or raise without a though process behind it.
