what to do with two pair...

What should i do with a marginal to good two pair or a low 3 of a kind..??
i sometimes get real into betting way to much with a good two pair hand..great when it works. but sometime's i guess i don't stop to analize the board infront of me..? should i stop play two pair or just slow it down a bit..?

these kind of situations are so player and board dependent. Post hands if you're going to ask something this specific. There is no way to really answer (with something that will teach you anything) such a vague question.

spose it depends on the way the guy or gal has played previous hands personally i play 2 pair most times but again depends on circumstances raises re-raises etc etc

You should slow play it. These hands are most likely to get the most money out of pots.

pre-flop, if you´re agressive and have 2 top pairs, raise 2x or 3x the BB

agree with this guy. generally, if the board is scary you need to remember 2 words - pot control. negreanu does this often and its part of his small ball approach if you've read his book

Top 2. Obviously this is a GET MONEY IN THE POT sort of hand. But this is not the marginal thing you are asking about.

Bottom two pair... I play it aggressively. Obviously thinking hard about what their response might mean. The nice thing is... if your opponent has top pair you have a nice hidden hand to stomp on them with. I think that scenario is something like 75% likely to hold up for you. But if they are betting like they have 2 pair... and the board read in a way that it fits their range... well be careful.

Top and bottom is kinda weird. As with bottom pair, they could pair their kicker to make a better 2pr than yours. But also now you are slightly more easily counterfeited by the middle pair showing up which will give you the same hand but they might have a better kicker now! This is a painful way to lose.

As to three of a kind... there are more than one sort of those.

A set is 3 of a kind with 2 in your paw.
Trips is three of a kind with two on the board.

A set is more often than not the nuts. Bet it accordingly. You'll run into the rare set over set (DAMN YOU RICHYL2008!) but in the long run sets are a REAL bread and butter sort of hand. Top set is almost made of solid gold.

Trips on the other hand, though quite strong, are much more vulnerable. Obviously kicker matters much more in this situation. You can flop more than one kind of trips. The big ones, and the little ones (you hold 67 board is 772 or AA7) sometimes they turn into boats which is either very good (with the big side) or kinda scary (with the little side).

One other Thing...

Learning to read the board and set your strategy is very very important.

Even with an amazingly good hand like top set you have to plan your attack.

Say you flop top set like this:

board:

You want to make it extremely hard, and painful for your opponent to justify a call, and punish him if he is chasing a flush or a straight.

On the other hand this situation with middle set:

you:
board:

is one in which you hope your opponent has an ace and you want to make it a little cheaper... because just think... maybe he gets that other ace. Guess where all his chips are going then?

This sort of consideration is applicable to ALL poker situations of course.
