When they show weakness you bet and when they show strength run for the hills. You simple can not call this type of player on the river without strong holdings. This type of player is fairly easy if they aren't mixing it up much. They bet their good hand, call with weaker hands and draws, and fold with nothing. Just try to pick up the small pot and only play big pots with big hands.

re: what to do against tight aggresive people at headsup poker I agree with pedromans view completely... But what i think is a better strategy is to consistently mix up ur playing style... This approach reaps maximum benefits in sngs against any type of strategy player from tight aggressive to loose passive... And wen playing against tight aggressive player, always remember to raise big initially, as it will give u an idea of what hand ur opponent has and will help you in deciding what to do next...

post flop anyway...c-bet then fold or check-fold if they're still in there. someone who's really really tight, from being there myself will be willing to take a monster pretty far against you. i've found once they're hip to you're game, and if you're ahead, if they raise you back...raise them again if you have the chips if it won't commit them to the pot (unless you are pretty sure you've got this one). against someone really tight...its often not the amount you've bet (especially against just a sissy), but the fact that you HAVE bet that will run them off pots. be willing to lose a few chips and seem almost predictable. i like to have them thinking the same way i do sometimes...."just let them bet this time, i'll show em!"

to those people i never go all in unless i got the nuts myself. i steal alot from them.I started to beat some "tight aggresive people" but it is so early to say anything my game started to change according to my opponent. i started asking questions. is he tight, loose aggresive or passive? over betting and staff.... PS: I dont bluff OOP to the tight people who wants to go all in. |

I don't see how anyone can be successful at heads up just using 1 style of play. Even the most tight Aggressive players have to mix it up if they are any good. If you think that they don't then its an easy game.. Bet when they don't raise, fold when they do! But, personally, I play every hand as it comes!

Mixing up your game is probably the most important aspect of heads up. Both players are involved in every hand, so they are paying attention to what you do. If you only raise when you hit, they can steal the pot when you don't. Are you having problems getting trapped? You might be playing too aggressively. Are you calling when your opponent has been showing strength the entire hand and you have nothing?

There is a lot of good advice here. I find that most aggressive players over bet the pot. So I become tight until they think I am tight and then I start stealing the pots. So you have to mix it up. When, you are talking about the money differenct between 1st and second, is AK suited a good enough hand to go allin preflop? If they have any pair they may just take it all. So be careful and get to know the player before you make the more. Now if you are short stacked, AK is always good to make a stand on.

HU [vs. any style] is a lot of game theory.
